2012 rx350
Hi All,
So I negotiated a price with a local dealer in So Cal for an incoming RX350 and was set to come in to do some paperwork. I worked out a deal for $42,300 for a car with MSRP $46,947. Came with NAV, Premium Package, Heated Seats, Wood Trim, 19-inch wheels, etc.
Dealer now just called and said the incoming car is a 2012 and therefore, it doesn't qualify for the August incentives ($1K loyalty, 1.9% finance).
I was under the impression the 2012s wouldn't come in till November. Anyways, is it possible dealer is screwing with me because maybe they got a better offer for the car? Seems sort of odd they didn't know it was a 2012 until the last minute.

The 1K loyalty has been offered by Lexus forever. I first used it in 1999 when buying my first RX while I owned a 1995 GS. It should really be above and beyond any deal negotiated with a dealer.
I could see the financing deal being restricted to 2011 model year vehicles.
That aside, the dealer has a much greater incentive to offer discount from MSRP on an in-stock 2011 vehicle (whether in their lot inventory or a trade with another dealer's 2011 inventory). So I could see them not being willing to offer much if any discount off MSRP on a 2012 model year.

Was that a mistake?

Add in the "etc." and it looks spot on.

Went to my dealer yesterday to ask about the 2012. When will it be out. He had NO IDEA as to when. I ask about a 2011 with a good price & was told they only had 2 and no deals.
Went to the VW dealer & they had no Taugrags either. Whats up?

RX's have a slight shortage for AWD w/ Navi models. My dealer said that the navi maker was wiped out in the tsunami and Lexus had to shift all navi production to their backup supplier and have been slow to do so.
I had to wait 2 weeks to physically get my black/ black AWD w/navi.

It doesn't sound like his vehicle has the Comfort Package, which adds the rain-sensing wipers and HID's with adaptive forward lighting. That probably explains the cheaper price.
