Default 2012 RX350 Changes (87-Octane, New Color)

The RX 350 carries over with minimal changes for 2012 model year. RX 350 owners will appreciate the new fuel recommendation of 87-octane gasoline. A new eye-catching Nebula Gray Pearl exterior replaces Smoky Granite Mica.

Don't quite get the new fuel economy. It's listed for the 2012 as 18/24/20 (City/Hwy/Combined). That's way worse than the 2011 AWD (24/35/28). Either it's a typo or the costs that you're saving at the pump by putting in the 87 octane fuel as opposed to premium fuel is going right into the drive train.

Default Fuel Economy

I checked the Window Sticker MSRP on my 2011 RX350 AWD and the EPA Fuel Economy printed on the lower left side of the page sez:
City MPG 18, Highway MPG 24, and Combined 20. Don't understand where you got your figures above, maybe the RX 450H?

My bad. Figured it out. I'm in Canada and the listed MPG is actually Imperial MPG rather than US MPG, makes it difficult to compare....so the fuel economy numbers are the same for both models. Ooops.

That was a sad read. I was expecting a few more changes for 2012. Maybe next year. All the better for my tired 2010 no one will know it from a 2012. YEAH!

No, the new (2013) GS has three other new colors:

"The GS 350 will feature three colors that are new to the Lexus color palette: Riviera Red, Meteor Blue Metallic and Liquid Platinum. Vehicles in Riviera Red will benefit from glass flakes incorporated into the coating that adds a high level of brilliance to the paint. Lexus engineers developed a new advanced coating process for Liquid Platinum exteriors. The GS 350 will be the first Lexus to adopt this new coating technology. Vehicles with the Liquid Platinum exterior will appear more radiant as an additional metallic texture gives both strong shading and defined, sharp highlights. This metallic effect makes subtle and defined bodylines more noticeable and the surface appear finely polished."

It's a new color for CT200h as well, but you can get an idea.

Does that mean we should use 87 octane with a 2010 rx350?

Not true in Nashville, TN. I have a 2012 Nebula Grey Pearl AWD RX 350 on the way from Japan. Will be here first of next month.

**we ordered a 2011 Smokey Granite Mica Aug 27. We were told there was difficulty obtaining the parts necessary to complete the RX we ordered. I was told by the dealer they would be receiving a 2012 Nebula Grey Pearl AWD RX 350 instead of what we ordered.
We get to keep the deal we made on the 27th too!

I am confused on your post. Today is 8/22/11 and you said that you order one on 8/27. How could that be? July 27th, maybe?
