Default Another advantage of HUD (Heads Up Display)

Never thought HUD was that big a deal but have found it to be a very useful feature on our RX. When I crossed into Canada last week on an extended road trip a simple push of the button changed the HUD to read km/hr instead of mi/hr. Sure, it is pretty simple to multiply km x 0.6 in your head to set your speed but far easier to have the km/hr speed shown right on the windshield. Driving in strange areas you also don't have to take your eyes off the road to check speed.....good safety feature. The km scale on the regular speedometer dial sucks......way too small print.

Default Alternative Speed Scale on Speedometer

I have the opposite problem - the mph scale on the speedometer dial sucks... way too small. (I have to convert the speedometer indication from km/h to mph, mentally, when I'm driving in the U.S.)

I have a Garmin GPS that I could put on top of the dash, and which can give me my instantaneous speed in mph, but I think it would look tacky. Way unfortunately, the Lexus' built-in navigation system is incapable of providing this simple, but valuable, function.

In general, I really enjoy having the HUD. Just too bad it can't display more kinds of information.

You do it backward instead.....

km * 1.609 = mi
