Angry Audio System Problem - No Sound

Just after the East Coast (Virginia) earthquake, my 2010 RX350 Audio system went silent. No sound, despite my limited troubleshooting experience with car Audio system. From what I see, all the settings seems fine and did not change from what I had before this incident. Two days later, still no sound. There is some static noise coming from the front speakers when I turn the car on and off. I called the dealer service and they want me to bring it in, The car has less that 10,000 miles and I planned to take it in for that complimentary service at 10,000. But before I do that, any ideas of the cause? Thanks

No sound at all, no matter which selection (Radio, XM, CD, etc.)?

Ed, That is correct. I tried all the options (AM/FM. CD, SAT, etc). Like I said, turning the car off and on, produces a static noise in yhr front speakers. Do you know of any recalls, etc, or ongoing problems with the Audio System Lexus is using in these models, or others? Thanks Bob

Bob, I believe one or two people here have had their radios replaced under warranty. I can't recall the symptoms. I'd plan that trip to the dealer soon. Good luck and welcome to CL. Wish it was under better circumstances.

Bob, forgot to mention, I'd check the fuses but if you can get to the dealer, do it. But not right now. Stay safe.

Maybe the quake shook the connecting cable loose from the back of the unit.

Anita, Thanks, I will check the fuses and connections later after the rain storm subside a bit. Will make that trip to the dealer next week. Keep safe from Irene and please don't go surfing the next few days.

Bob,
Had the exact same problem - checked the fuses, not the problem. Somehow the amplifier blew - took it to the dealer and they are ordering me a new one. Not sure why the earthquake would cause it, but it happened right after it.

Wow, two people affected by the same problem after the earthquake? Too freaky. Mine is ok, knock on wood.

Could the EMP from the quake have cause it to blow?

EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) from the earthquake occurred to me, too, as a possible cause. I don't think there's any hard scientific evidence for it, though.

Thanks for all the advice. I was out the country for awhile - that is why I have not reply to the responses. I did take it to the dealer, they did their tests and found out that the AMPLIFIER was bad. They ordered a new AMP and should be in next week. What I am curious about is the order was for a New Pioneer System. My question to the forum is, What is the relationship between Mark Levinson system and Pioneer? Are the they same or LEXUS is replacing the Original system with a more inferior, equal to or better system. Comments are appreciated if you had this problem. Thanks. Bob

Default Stereo System Problem

What a co-incidence with the member (tbrx350) having the same problem with the RX 350 stereo system as mine. The changes in the magnetic field phenomena after the earthquake did cross my mind. So I am waiting to see if others had this problem too.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the original equipment is Pioneer. I'm unsure if there is a relationship between Pioneer and Harman (ML), although I would guess no connection.

i've seen this before on 2011 RX350, it's not related to the earthquake they will replace with OEM.
