2010 RX350 Garage Door Opener Issue
#31
I purchased the extender kit for the garage door opener. Basically it converts the antenna to coaxial.
But now i'm thinking there must be something else wrong. The Home link button still operates the door when parked in the garage, but that's it. Like i said, the remote that came with the opener works a little bit further down the driveway, but that's it (now about 8 feet).
I'm thinking i might just have to buy a new opener and get something with a stronger frequency to start out with.

I just used some old cat 5 cable and split and striped the wire back and made five antenna extenders from one cable. It works well for me now I could not get the door to open sometimes with the car right in front of it but could get it to open up the other two doors from the driveway. Now I can open all the doors from the driveway. Does the home link have as much range in my 2010 Camry or 2011 Rx450h as what was in my 2005 Rx330 no but things change in life and not always for the better.

I have the same issue with my 2010 RX 350
I have replaced my garage door opener. I have to be right on top on the garage door for it to open. I have checked the wire that hangs down which receives the signal. I have two doors and the garage door openers are different brands and it is the same issue. I used to have a 2001 RX 300 and it worked fine. It also worked fine in my Toyota Highlander. I think it is interference with the signal or something.

FWIW, I agree there may be varying sort of interference, but also I believe it has to do with how different auto manufacturers place the Homelink sending unit, as well as what specific model garage door opener one has. In my particular case, my 2002 SC430, 2006 RX400h as well as my 2013 RX450h had/have excellent range with both of my (old, as in 10+ years) Chamberlain openers. I can be 3 houses away down the street and both of my doors will open with either Lexus. OTOH, both my BMW 335i and MBZ SLK have horrible range with the same doors -- requiring me to be in my driveway to accomplish the same task.
I'm not looking forward to the day when I have to replace my garage door openers.
