Default 2010 RX350 Garage Door Opener Issue

Is anyone else having a issue with the Garage door openers being under powered?

I have a 250ft driveway and using the original rgarage door remote, or my wife's Honda Odyssey's built in door openers, I am able to open the garage doors from the bottom of my driveway.

My 2010 RX350 has to be literally within 15 feet of the garage doors for them to open.

My dealer has already replace my unit and it performs the same way.

After working with my dealer for 1 year, I reached out to lexus HQ today.

I am awaiting a call from a specialist on this.

So I am wondering if this is a issue with my vehicle or is this a issue with the entire line.

Thanks

What brand of garage door opener do you have? Ours will work from 50-100 feet out, maybe further, but there is a huge tree blocking the view of our house until you get to 100 ft from the door. My '11 GS has the same range.

I can hit the button on mine at 3 one acre lots away and my door will open. And there is barely line of site as my neighbor's front yard hides the majority of the garage door.

Door opener is a Stanley.

I am only complaining because the original remote and my honda both get the same distance. It must be only my vehicle.

We have no problems with our 2011
And we live in a townhouse where most garage doors are close to one another, which can cause interference with the radio.

^^I was thinking the same thing about interference with close living neighbors. Also, it could be that the Lexus "system" doesn't take well with certain brands and the amount of interference that there could potentially be. Assuming that most neighborhoods are built by 1 or 2 builders and they all use the same brands when it comes to garage door openers.

I am out in Farm country, and my home is sitting in the middle of a 3 Acre lot.

It's definately not interference in this case.

How old is your garage system?
You may need to update firmware/software.

No problem here so far, and I can open ours @ >250' before I could even see our house from a curve with a house blocking if I get the timing right, but pretty consistent @ 200'.

I remember having this problem with my '07 RX, after having the Lexus tech guy come out and program the garage door opener on the RX. It turned out to be pretty useless, as it would only work when I was right in front of the garage door.

I haven't tried to have the programming done on my 2010 RX. Then again, I do have a new garage door opener for the garage. It was replaced last year. So it might work better this time around.

I wonder if you can get another garage door receiver unit and hook in parallel. Then put this receiver outside say 50 feet in front of the garage. You may have to build an enclosure or put it under something so keep it under the weather. In theory that should work. Or maybe there is a more powerful receiver you can get. I mean there are amplifier transmitter then why not receivers?

Check you current receiver antenna, it may be horizontal, try setting it vertical and keep it away from close by metal structures that may change the resonant freq

RXSF has a point, you do have to hold the button down for a few seconds. A quick push does not work. Mine does work from at least 100 ft away.

There is a little LED up by the buttons, it should be blinking too as you push the button not on steady or off.

Although 250 feet seems like a long way to me. Not sure I could see my tiny garage from 250 feet.
