The dealer can tweak an allocated vehicle in their future shipment so as to be "tricked" out like the OP wants. Or better yet, they can go in and claim one from another dealer as long as it's not on the train to that dealer. If the vehicle can be built to specification in Canada....1 month. Japan....different story, but I have a feeling you would get it before the end of the year if you act now.

Chief, is the Audi dealer willing to move a little on the price? When we bought our current car the Q5 was near the top of our list but it had just come out and inventories/selection were very low so they were going to close to sticker. We'll consider one next time and hopefully prices will be better then.

Seriously, everyone is different but if there is no difference between an '11 or a '12 it will all come out in the price. We bought a '10 last November which was $5k less than the equivalent '11 model ..... the dealer would not deal on the new model. Made no sense to me to pay more money to get a vehicle that is the same as the prior year model just to have bragging rights to having the NEWEST model year. It may be important to some but we don't run like that.

If one saved $ 5,000 on the 2010 vs buying the 2011 initially, I do not think one would lose much more than $ 5,000 in the trade-in value in a few years time. I also got a 2010 for $ 5K less than if I would have got a 2011 in October, 2010. Figured I would rather save $ 5,000 up front.

I also bought a new 2010 last October and it was $5399 off of sticker price.

When I bought my new 2010 450h on Sept 8th, 2010 I got a little more than $6200 off sticker. When you also factor in reduced sales taxes and licensing, the total works out to over $6,800 here in CA. There was about an $1,800 price increase on an identically equipped 2011 with the new model year. That brought the difference to $8,600. Factoring in the increased taxes and fees, brings the total to $8,800. I'm sure it is not all savings because I could probably have negotiated some deal on the 2011, but it does give you an idea of the possibilities.

Dealer offered me $27,000 for my 2010 with 50,000 miles. It is in perfect condition. Was looking at 2011 LS 460. I don't think so.

You will get more money if you sell it yourself. Craigslist. I have used itvmyself and sold 3 cars already within a week. Don't price the RX too high. Make it attractive. And let the buyers have a bidding war. ( good for you as the seller).

Another option is e bay motors but they get a huge chunk from the sales. So I would stick with craigslist as much as possible.
