Default Trading in the RX

Can't find a '11 RX tricked the way we want it & the 2012's are months away so looks like a change might be coming.
Looking at the Audi Q 5 as a replacement. Test drove one & not too bad at all.
Will see what we can get on a trade in for our '09 RX.

The Audi is probably gonna be in the shop more than in your driveway, but enjoy! LOL

Don't misunderstand me, we like our Lexus but we can't get a 2012 till next year & we need tires on our '09 so we want to replace now & Audi seems the best for us & our dollar. We looked at M.Benz, Infinity, VW Touragge too.
If the Lexus was available it would have come in 3rd place in our choice, maybe 2nd because of the higher price on the Benz.

I had a Q7 that was reliable but audis are much more expensive to service Was not pleased with $1800 brake jobs every 30,000 miles. The Q5 is a nice vehicle though and the audis have great interiors. I looked at it but it was just too small for a family with two teenagers. Did you test drive the new ML that is just out and redesigned. If so , what did you think?

Haah, no worries. It's your money, if you like the Audi more get it!! You only live once!

But, if the only reason your trading in your 09' is because it needs tires, then well I'm baffled. LOL

I agree - I'd put on a new set of tires for the price of two monthly payments (or less) and wait, not for the 2012 - but the 2013.

I'm predicting it will have the changes following along the lines of the recently announced 2013 GS (which will be available in early in 2012). The 2013 RX will likely be September-October 2012 (gut feeling based on past years' releases).

Even though we pulled the trigger on a 2011. If I was in your shoes, I'll just replace the tires and wait. Anyway, try the X5 As well, especially the diesel.

It is a mystery why you have been told that the 2012's are months away. We are heading for the middle of September and the 12's are in the factories now and are being shipped as we speak--delivery to a US dealer should be no more than 2 weeks from Cambridge....if you were told months away, I would bet someone was trying to make a sale on a 2011!!

Yes, tires are far less then a new vehicle but at 70 years old why wait & yes our Lexus dealer told us at least Jan. for a new RX & we told him in no way would we buy a '11. Thats the way we run. God willing we will get a 2015 RX.

during trade-in of your 09 to any dealer, tires will count as deduction if it needs replacement. If you were to sell it using p-2-p, good chance a potention buyer will ask for tire replacement in negotiting price.

I have looked at Q5 but its much smaller than it looks and definately no where near the size of RX in every dimension. XC60, SRX, and MKX are more compatible with RX in price/dimension.

Getting a new vehicle because your tires are worn and the 2012 RX won't be available for a few months?

Indeed, why wait that long?

I upgrade vehicles when my XM radio subscription is due for renewal - can't stand the negotiations with that guy in India.

Your dealer is lying. Go find another Lexus dealer. The '12 RXs are being built right now. They will be arriving at dealerships later this month. Also, the Ontario plant just resumed full production, so inventories will be increasing soon. Therefore, it will be much easier for you to find an RX tricked out the way you want if you just wait a couple more weeks.

what's so special about the RX you want, that there are ZERO available vehicles in all the land?

Cars.com says there are 68 2012s currently sitting at dealerships....and the VINs they list on those are 2012s....10th digit is "C". Tell your dealer he's a GD liar.

I think the question is whether the RX equipped as xfirechief wants would even be available at the dealer or only through special order. If it's the latter, it'll take months to come in.

My 330 had 3-month old OE Michelins on them when I traded in. The 450h was on order when I changed the tires. To me it was worth dropping the money for not only safety's sake but also to bolster the value. But if you find something else out there, I say go for it. It'll be sad to see you go.
