Default One Auto Air Recirculate Button vs Two Separate Buttons

Why is it that some 3rd generation models have one Recirculate Auto button while others have two separate buttons between recirculation and outside air? These are the physical buttons, not any buttons on the navigation screen. I have a 2011 AWD with navigation, and have two separate physical buttons between recirculation and outside air. Does this speak to whether my vehicle can automatically switch between recirculation and outside air? I am not aware this is an optional feature. Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

I think its the difference between the Luxury package and the premium package, you get the auto recirculate on the luxury package.

If you do have the Luxury Package there are 2 buttons. The feature is supposed to have a smog sensor in it so when the levels get to high it switches to recirc. The level of detection/ sensitivity is adjustable in the Nav system. I just set it and forget it.

I have the luxury package, and yes, there is recirculation and auto, but it is all one huge button and not two buttons. You keep pressing it to cycle between recirc, outside air, and auto.

One button on my ML equipped, non-luxury RX. I think I have fewer buttons too.

I think we all have the same amount of buttons if you get nav. If you dont get nav you get more buttons

X10civ, the default setting for the the windshield defroster is to turn on the A/C. You can turn it off somewhere in vehicle, settings I believe. I forget exactly where. I'd keep the A/C on to avoid the dreaded smell.

No by virtue of how it works. The A/C compressor does the job of d-humidifying the windshield. But you can still control the temp.

Did you know that if you load that display with some down home Southern (by the grace of God) country music you could bet better mileage on your (h) ???

Maybe some 'Alabama' or 'Oak Ridge Boys', or Loretta Lynn ???

Or so I've been told

It's early in the morning so I can't blame my behavior on the red

Ah, thanks but no thanks Jim. I use music to get me energized. BTW, what I had in the CD player at the time was mild compared to some of the things I listen to

Hi Jim / Anita

So is it best to leave the A/C on Auto ? I don't want to have the "smell" that some people have mentioned about when the vents get mould in them. So is Auto best to avoid this ?

Cheers

I realized my mistake when I got in the RX to go somewhere. Shows you how much I play with those buttons. That is the great thing about the RX, once you get it customized, everything is on auto-pilot.
