Default 2012 RX Navigation

I will take delivery of my new car on Monday. I know the navigation updates come out in October so I'm not sure if my car will have the update or not. If it doesn't, reasonable to have them update it before I take delivery? I have pushed these guys to the limit on everything else so I guess one more item can't hurt, especially since I was supposed to have taken delivery on 9/28/11.........

I'm sure the dealer will provide the update given the timing of your delivery. It's certainly not an unreasonable request. Strange how the updates used to be every two years, now they're annually.

I bought my 2010 RX in October of 2009 and the Nav update wasn't applied. They wanted to charge me $300 for the latest version, but I just called Lexus CS and they agreed to pay for it.

Your vehicle is brand new. You have a right to demand up-to-date software.

I just received an email from Lexus with information that the SRP for the new NAV update, version 11.1, has been lowered to $169 (from $199) a move in the right direction IMO. However, if the dealer installation charge remains the same, $270 or so is still kinda steep. Also IMO.

I have to say it. It 'sucks' that you can't install the update yourself. It's one thing to charge for the update, it's another to charge to install it. Guess you have to keep those dealerships busy. I will get my fill of sandwiches and soda while I'm waiting.

When I picked up my car I specifically asked if I had the newest version of the navigation and was told yes. I'm just learning how to "use" my new car so trying to find the navigation version. Anyone know how to find it? Thanks in advance!

I have a question. If you don't update your Navigation, do you just have old maps, or does it disappear from your screen?

They're not "that" old, but they don't time bomb and disappear. Lexus would like you to update (or make the update available to you), but they don't punish you for not updating.

Okay, I figured out how to find the navigation version installed on my 2012 RX and of course it's 11.1. Since I just purchased my car I think they should upgrade to 12.1 as a client courtesy. Any thoughts on how I should put in the request? Now that I've completed my purchase and accepted delivery, I have no bargaining chip.

Lexus states 12.1 will be released later this month.

My mistake, 12.1 will be released Fall 2012. Thanks djkidkris, I wasn't reading the information correctly.
