48, married female, 2 boys (12 & 15). This is my first SUV, I've only ever had luxury cars (Audi, Infiniti, BMW & Volvo) I'm having a hard time transitioning into what I call my "fancy new van"(sorry if I offend any soccer moms out there) from a car. However, I got a fantastic deal on it, I really wanted a hybrid, and I realize that my son is now 5'8" and the 12 year old is growing everyday. By next year I'll basically be driving around 2 men w/backpacks, musical instruments, etc. Married for 23 years and I'm a software engineer (fancy title for computer programmer).

I kinda figured the demographic would be more in the 40 range. Guess we all have great taste!

If you look at the graph its a traditional bell curve which should be expected in the type of vehicle it is. Younger people will find it too expensive and the oldest will find it too tall to get in and too much car for their needs. That leaves the majority in around the middle where we can both afford the vehicle and appreciate the sporting nature.

It also likely serves the uses of the middle section best with children, and sporting events and utility.

I would imagine that younger people would buy somthing cheaper and more economical and practical for thier needs and the older people will buy a beige or white Accord or Camry and leave their signals on.

I don't like squatting to get into a Camry or climbing up into Sequoia and what the heck color is beige?

Now the blinkers...well okay, ya got me on that one!

You're on the mark as far as youngest and I agree with DunWkg on Beige, HUH ??? But as far as older, I resemble that equation and I'm short with a great center of gravity. Short people like to see over the tops of other cars And it's really a great car for home owners. Great all around car .

Well around here there seems to be some sort of prerequisite that once you reach AARP age you need to buy a Buick or an Accord in white, beige, light beige or blue. Apparently the beige hides the scrapes on the quarter panels that they scuffed up due to the loss of spatial awareness. Once you have the approriate car one must buy a hat, drive in two lanes at once, at a slower than posted speed with one of the blinkers on.

One of the consolations of living in a winter climate is that in the summer they all go to Texas, Pheonix or Florida and do the same things down there for the winter.

Around here you see 3rd gens being driven by pretty much every demographic. It's the first and second gens that I see being driven by one of three types of folks
  1. Soccer Moms
  2. Realtors
  3. Retirees

I guess the redesign to make the RX more "manly" worked on a few levels.
