Three cheers for Lexus! I went to the dealer today and the service manager took one quick look at the seat and said they would replace the seat bottom under warranty. He said it was a manufacturer's defect. I love happy endings, especially when they involve car dealerships!

Sounds like you handled it well and so did the dealer. Yep, happy endings are nice

I should probably give credit where credit is due. The dealership is Crown Lexus in Ontario, California.

Purchased CPO 2010 RX 350 with 19K mile in mid January 2012.
Wife noticed when she sat on front passenger leather seat with dress that texture was different and rather uncomfortable. Noticed stain like texture about six inches long on leather seat, and felt like someone spill hot wax on underside of leather leaving seat with variation in texture and flexibility. Brought back to Lexus dealer and replaced seat cover under warranty within two days.
Hooray for Lexus of Route 10 in NJ! Excellent customer service.

I took my 2011 into the dealer with major cracks on the driver's seat left bolster. It has 17K miles and is 26 months old. I got the same BS about normal wear and tear. I have used high quality leather conditioning on the seats since I bought the car. I have had two prior Lexus cars with no similar problem. I have a 2006 Jag with three times the mileage and no sign of this kind of damage. This problem is a design defect that Lexus needs to own up to. I wrote the Lexus host web site and they have assigned me a case officer. I will let you know the outcome.
