Default 2012 RX350 Questionable Comfort

Hi Folks,

Just picked up my first Lexus. Also completed my first 8 hour drive and I noticed that I cannot seem to get the seats adjusted to suit. My wife also has this complaint.

We have the 10-way power seats for both the driver and the passenger and it seems that the front portion of the seat on both sides does not go high enough. My wife also complaints that the seats don't seem to be large enough. I am 5 '11" and she is 5'1".

Could these seats be installed incorrectly?

Also I think I read that there is an optional seat position that moves the cushion forward, but my option does not seem to cover this.

If your seat front bottom does not go high enough, just lower the seat bottom's back side. The RX's front seats are pretty big, if you dont mind me asking, how big is your wife weight wise?
The optional seat extender is part of the luxury package.

She would be about 140 lbs, although she was a little hesitant to tell me. lol. Don't get me in trouble with any remarks.
Is it possible to get the optional seat extender added to the current seats or would this be a nuisance to get the dealer to fix?

I find the seats (I have the premium leather with thigh extension support) firmer than the last generation. However, when I had a loaner with regular seats, it felt almost more comfortable (softer?) than mine. This discomfort feeling happens after driving for 3-4 hours, but that's just to me. My other family members seem to enjoy the ride very much during our 2000km road trip back in May.

You would have to get two whole new seats to get the extenders, the cost will be well into the thousands. What does your wife mean when she said the seat is not big enough, was it not wide enough or not long enough? If she is 5'1" and 140 pounds, the seats should be more than wide and long enough for someone that size. You, on the other hand might need the extender since you are 5'11". What kind of car or SUV did you guys have before the RX? Maybe your last car did not have much side support on the seats.

PDReynolds, Please be mentally prepared to respond to future questions on yours and your wife's hip sizes as this discussion string progresses...

We recently completed a 5,000 mile trip in or 2011 RX350. I did all the driving and found the seat very firm and uncomfortable.
