Hey everybody,
I am a long time lurker here but a huge Toyota/Lexus fanatic! We have a 2010 RX that started making an annoying creaking noise whenever driving over a rough road or bump. The noise has progressively worsened and can now be heard when the radio is fairly loud. We have brought it to the dealer and they basically said that there is nothing wrong with the car mechanically but would like us to bring the vehicle back when a rep is present. The writer also said that this is a known problem. Has anybody else experienced this issue? If you did, what was the fix? Other than the noise, we love the car! Thanks for any help

Thanks for the reply. I tried to search every adjective that describes the noise with no luck. Hopefully this information will start solving the mystery.

I "had" this issue. For me changing out the rear shocks did not fix it. I had an open complaint with corporate for over a year. It wasn't till I threatened to sell the car and buy a competitor that their techs and lexus corp techs finally figured out what was wrong. The rear trailing arms needed to be replaced and now the noise is gone, too bad it took 1yr and 10k miles later.

I forgot to add this in my original post, but the dealer also told me that there was an extraordinary amount of dirt accumulated between the bushing and frame. They never saw this occur on any other RX. What is your take on that statement?

I didn't see any dirt on my trailing arm bushings, the trailing arms did however not look centered in the frame mounting area. they said mines were rubbing. in your car if there is dirt that could possible cause some noise but if they cleaned it out the noise should be gone. if the noise is still there then the noise is something else. Keep complaining and take it up with Lexus customer satisfaction if the dealer refuses to fix the noise.
