Default Urgent! Where i can get this part? Aftermarket or factory?

Hi,

My car was involved in an collisions, nobody was hurt.

But the body shop had to take out the molding at my fender to repaint and they dont know where to get the replacement for that molding.

I bought the car CPO so i am not sure if it was factory options or after market part.

The part in question is the plastic molding inside yellow marks. Not sure what it is called and where to get replacement.

I appreciate all help asap other wise they gonna put the old plastic, which does not look nice

The car was bought from US and i am from Canada. I took it to my local body shop ( referred by my insurance company) and he told me he does not know what that it, and i have to find it myself, he has no knowledge.

I wont take my back back after this, ever.

Pretty certain that is aftermarket. Same goes for that weird black rubber running horizontally across the front bumper...

According to Joe G on this thread, it is from factory. I sent him a PM to verify and waiting reply. Hope it is easy to find.
"We purchased a full molding package (extra charge)
We wanted the body side moldings as protection. The package included full side moldings, door edge moldings, wheel well edge molding, and moldings on the front and rear bumper. We love the look and live in N.Y. as well and highly recommend the added protection.
Will post some pictures for you to see later today.

I haven't seen anything like that in my area. Must be a NY thang Is it possible to remove the molding on the other wheel wells? I'd do that if you can't find a replacement. It's probably sold as a set and pricey too. Good luck.

So I've never seen a manufacturer have that kind of trim avaialbe as an option. Dealer installed maybe? Either way perhaps this is what you might be seeking?

I have the wheel well trim on my car too. It gives the car a finished appearance.

Look at the 1/2 inch molding. You may have to call the company to place your order.
Its not expensive and looks good.
I've used this company for the last few cars I've bought.

Bluesurf: Thank you for the link,

Joe: Not yet, but i will give Matt a call tomorrow to find out. My car was bought from Glen Cove, NY too ( Rallye Lexus), so i guess he could be the one installed it. Many thanks.

On the side note, while my car was at the shop, we found out front bumper and driver's side fender were repainted. This was not disclosed to me when i bought the car ( CPO) and Carfax show accident at all. So it is a head up for anyone if you want to buy CPO car or deal with Rallye Lexus in the future.

Depending on how well the repair was done the dealer may not have been aware of the repair. If it took parts coming off the vehicle in order to see it the repair sounds like it was done very well and could have slipped by the dealer especially since Carfax didn't show anything. Carfax is only as good as the data sources they collect from - which, btw, aren't many or reliable as far as accident reporting IMO.

No it was not done properly at all, they did not even take the molding out to repaint it, hence the result is an edge along the molding.
But at least i think it was not major collisions, since they dont need to take it apart.

Wow. Yeah that's a crappy job. Still might have snuck past the dealer, though depending on which yahoo was doing the CPO-ing.
