Do I have a Lemon?
Hi all: First off, we love our new Lexus - but for one problem. We've had the car 4 moonths, and yesterday - for the 4th time - the "CHECK AWD" warning light came on. So we immediately take the car in, where they keep it anywhere from 45 mnutes up to a full day. Return it with warning light off. A month later, it happens again. And the service tech. can't tell us what is the problem. They are masters at evasice answers. My question is, how many times should we take the car in and let them try to fix problem, before we get really upset....and start asking for a new car??? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks. Mark

Didn't you ask this question in the beginning of January and the Lexus was 6 months old? I provided a link to the discussion on the topic. Here was the original question you posed where I provided the link to the background on the issue

Need to check your State lemon laws as to the definition of whether your vehicle is a "lemon", and provisions for getting resolved. I would think a "check AWD" warning light would eventually get fixed fairly easily as far as figuring out the cause.

Yes, I did post before, and did appreciate your link. But there doesn't seem to be an answer to my specific question. And now it has happened again. Just hoping someone else has had this same problem, and can offer suggestions. No help from dealer, so far. Thanks

Document your visit with the dealer/service department.
If you continue to bring your RX " with the same " problem for more than 3 times in a year and there seems to have no fix for the issue, that's the time you can claim that the car is a Lemon.

Thanks for info. This is the 3rd time we've taken it in since we bought it 4-5 months ago, and this time they have had it for two days.... so far. Still no solution. Thanks again.

Did you receive the "Lemon Law Guide" when you purchased your new Lexus? It outlines the basic steps, by state, you need to follow for a lemon claim. If you haven't read it, I would suggest you do so to avoid missing any of the steps. Also, document, document, document. Keep a record of dates, times and with whom you've had conversations. Keep all paperwork of any work done. Make sure they generate a work order each time you visit. One that says, "Customer or client says...". Create a paper trail.
Good luck.
Good luck.
