We have a 2011 RX that is almost a year old now and still not 5,000 miles on the clock. I intend to take it to Lexus for the free service at 5,000 and 10,000 miles plus all warranty work. Beyond that it will go to our local Toyota dealer or my local shop. We had a 2001 RX with 93,000 miles and other than warranty work, it never saw the inside of the Lexus dealer. I always felt, and still do feel, that they riped me off price wise. All the work on the 2001 RX was all done by Toyota and we never had a problem.

Default What Do You Look for When...........

................choosing a mechanic to work our your RX 350??

I leaning on a Toyota dealership to service my RX350 once the complimentary service has run out after 10,000 miles, but who can you trust?
Word of mouth, framed certifications hanging on the wall, length of time in the business, WHO ??

Is there web-sites somewhere on ratings of Lexus/Toyota dealership service in various states?

I do ALL minor services myself and purchase parts from Sewell using Lexus points ..... costs me nothing but time. The major major services will be done by the Lexus dealer.

WE have the same plan. which has worked out for us.
as i have said in my previous post, unless you're leaving the RX and getting a loaner, then the Lexus Service bay is the place to go.
and the good people from Toyota will inform you if they CAN'T handle the problem.
So far, it has never come to that.

Check your complementary service intervals agreement @ 5,000 & 10,000 miles in your manual for free service.

If I read it right,
YOU HAVE to return it for service within the first 6 months OR 5000 miles which ever comes first,

Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Here on Tom Wood Toyota, I spoke to the manager, they'll provide any service to the RX except any warranty repairs or services. They can also do the customization features. I've their customer for 10 years and so far they've provided good service.

You are correct with that!
and i suggest to every member to make that visit, or else forfeit that complimentary service.
you can't go at 9,000 and have it as your first service and then go back at 14,000 and make that as your second service call.
if you don't go, you lose.

GRPFAN and Markrivers, I thought the same thing regarding service time frame. However, I called my selling dealer service dept and checked with them and they told me to just bring it in as the mileage dictates. I hope I will not have a problem as I intend to bring it in next month for the 5000 mile service. If there is a problem, I will take it up with the GM and the dealership and keep everyone posted.

You'll be ok. We just want to save you the time and hassle of calling or writing someone to have the matter resolved.
Speaking from experience, my wife bought a Toyota Prius IV from the Toyota dealership owned by the same company where we bought our all our Lexus.
It comes with a 5 complimentary service/ 25,000 miles which ever comes first.

and since the oil change is done every 10,000miles, she decided to skip the 15,000 thinking she can get a 30,000 mile service counted as the 5th complimentary.
Unfortunately, it didn't worked that way, so in short she only got 4 complimentary service checks.

I will take our RX 450h to the same Toyota dealer the did all the work on our 2005 RX330. Never had a problem with them and KNOW I will not have one on this car. The local Lexus dealer is using people from a have-way house and things are missing out of the customer cars. They have sub the car cleaning out and when you write about it the service writer cries about how that bad review cost him money . Nothing about sorry they brought your car back to you dirtier than you drop it off to them or anything else. Toyota service is the way to go.

I believe one has to take it in within 12 months to have the free service (oil change and tires rotated) performed. I had 5,000 miles at 12 months where I took it in, and the free oil change at 12 months was credited as if I had 10,000 miles. There is no free oil change after 12 months time according to my Lexus dealer. I did not take it in at 6 months since it only had 2500 miles on it.
