You really need to look at your sticker to see what you are buying. HIDs are options as part of the comfort package or available as separate option. It may help you to check this out http://www.lexus.com/models/RX/features/pricing.html

LED headlights are only available on RX450h.
LED lights on Escalade is super-duper bright but at the same time less offensive compare to HID.
Primary advantage of LED compare to any other lighting [at the moment] is the efficiency and packaging. LED for rear lights are becoming more and more common. LED headlight should eventually phase out the HID once the mass product can reduce the price of manufacturing.

Hello,
For what it's worth, I have HID on my 2012 RX. I like them. But like so many other cars out there, they blend in at this point. I do have LED lights on my Harley. They are driving lights. They do light up very nice and this particular set has a high and low setting. The original goal for me, on the bike, was to have it so I would see better in very dark areas on road trips. However, I now notice that they really make the bike stand out. The shocking white light that comes out of these lights really gets you noticed. I like LED as running lights and AUX light but personally, I would not spend the extra money for head lights. Frankly, I would expect the LED to be less then the HID. The parts are cheaper and easier to work with.

So because my wife has the comfort package, I can assume she has HID with 100% certainty? Which HIDs match the stock HIDs best? 4300k or 5000k?

I'm not sure if I'm recalling it wrong, but I saw the pictures you posted of your wife's new RX on another thread, and it didn't look like you have the HID's, as they are on the outside of the pair of lights. RX's with HID's have the projector-looking lens on the inside of the two pairs of lights. Another thing you would have if you have the comfort package is the rain-sensing wipers. You will see on your wiper stalk the word "auto".

You're absolutely right. She has the halogen.

I'm going to try and find an HID headlamp. If not, then HID conversion it is.

You also have adaptive headlights that turn when you turn and automatic bright lights that brighten and dim with oncoming traffic.

Wonder if anyone on this board knows - I'm not sure where to start researching.

For example, if you have an RX with OEM LED w/ AFS and Adaptive Highbeam setup from the factory - can you replace assembly with OEM Bi-Xenon HID w/ AFS and Adaptive Highbeam setup?

I'm not sure if the the bi-xenon functionality in the new assembly will automatically work or if adaptation is necessary?
Is it the assembly itself that knows which bulb is used for the high beam or is it the vehicle computer that knows which bulb is used for the high beam?

My guess is that those two headlamp systems are not inherently switchable unless you are willing to spend a boatload of money to attempt to do so.
