LED Light on the Overhead Console

If this little light on the overhead console is meant to illuminate the shifting console, it's really doing a poor job because it's just not bright enough
. Maybe there is another purpose for this light that I am not aware of.....I appreciate any comment.

its ambient lighting done poorly. It does give you just enough light in an otherwise dark cabin at night, but its effect does not even come close to large luxury cars that have LED strips along the dash or the door panels.
I just use it to illuminate the homelink buttons when the light reflects from my finger tips
