Are HID Headlights Covered Under 4 Yr/50K Warranty?
#16
Bingo. I sell HID conversion kits and have used a set in my other vehicle for many years. My personal record at the moment is a set of Sylvania 4300K bulbs that now have 267,000 miles on them having served in two different Tahoes.
The HID capsules are rarely the first component to go, more likely a faulty ignitor or ballast.

If you are looking for the best light output, you want either 4,300K or 5,000K color temp. 4.3K was the standard for years but many (myself included) find the 5K to be closer to true daylight now. Anything over 5K trades lumens for darker blue/purple color which is purely a cosmetic thing. The high color temp capsules may look 'cool' but they don't help you drive.
If you are going with a BiXenon capsule to get high and low beams from a single bulb, choose the servo activated type that extends the capsule fore/aft rather than the shutter or butterfly type if that matches your OEM bulb appropriately. You want to make sure the light source within the HID capsule is aligned as closely as possible with the original position of the Halogen filament(s) of the OEM bulb. This will ensure the least amount of undesirable glare.
A good solid ground connection is a must for any HID conversion kit. Many problems can be traced back to a poor ground.
Finally, you really do get what you pay for. I've seen some real junk coming out of China lately. Better to pay a few more $$ up front than to have to rip everything out in six months and start over.

Svofan1, there is a lot of information on the forum regarding HID conversions. Just so a search and you will be amazed. I did it and I am not the most mechanically gifted person. Just contact Steve at Xenon-Depot and he will tell you everything you need to know and put you an the correct path. They did a great job for me and other members of the forum.
