Exposed wires under hood passenger side

I have never seen any car (I had a Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti, Honda, bmw, VW) with wires exposed like that. Cost savings I guess 
I will check with the dealer next month when it goes for service. The more I see, the more appreciative I am of Infiniti/Nissan's quality. I had a 10 year old Infi that looked flawless under hood, cables etc. My one year old Lexus got a couple things covered in rust already. the -ve terminal of battery is all rusted. I will have to ask the dealer to replace it under warranty or something... Thanks for photos though...

How do you tell if its Japan or canada? based on VIN?
Anyway, that's exactly how my wires are exposed as well. I still can't believe that Lexus leaves them like that? Guess what, I called the dealer and he said the price on that new harness is $3600. Its one heck of an engine harness and it goes all over the vehicle not just this area. I guess they only care for it to last 4yrs/50K. Anyway, I bought a non-adhesive self cold shrink vinyl tape (-40 to 221F) ~$10 in electrical section of advance auto (http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-13830-85274.aspx) and a fire retardant conduit and use 3M scotch33+ tape had my local trailblazers to cover it all up for $20. They did a very professional job and I am glad I didn't do it I will post a pic this evening...

Exposed wiring
Technically exposed wiring would be naked wire w/o cover/shield around it. Several wires going from one area to another are usually bundled and this is what you're talking about. My 450h was built in May of 09 which was the 1st month of production 2010 models. I showed the bundle below with visible wires to my service manager and we compared it to two others which were the exact same configuration. Now almost three years later it hasn't changed and I haven't any problems with 37800 on the car. So I wouldn't fret over something not likely to give you a problem and is normal on the others.

Yes, nothing will happen in near future. But if you saw the wires in the picture above and they are very fine and thin. As they get exposed to heat and moisture, the outer rubber insulation will crack or short somewhere. In your photo, see how most other cables were inside a conduit that is sealed on the ends with a heat resistant electric tape. I think we are fine but if you plan to keep the car for more than 5 years, its in your best interest to take care of it. As I said the harness costs $3600 and dealer said its almost impossible to fix it if one of those 100 tiny wires is acting up.

I'm twice retired and once from the car business. This doesn't bother me but I've seen stuff that did. Not worried in the least. Maybe I can't convince you not to worry, that's your business but if I wanted I could find situations like this in just about any car now days.

Cars are full of exposed wires without a protected sheathing. Nothing is going to happen in the long run. They are all taped together because they are put together on a bench (actually on a wall) and it helps with the routing of the wires.
