Default Lack of radio delayed shut-off and stupidity almost caused an accident

This morning when i pulled into my spot at the train station I shut my 2012 RX off in reverse so the radio would stay on. Forgot to move it to park and began looking through my brief case. The car must have been slowly moving backward because I did not notice it. All of a sudden I hear a blast of a horn as I had rolled half way into the aisle. I hit the brake just in time.

Sure do miss that radio delay!

In addition I noticed the battery warning comes on and shuts off the radio if you leave it on very long. Don't remember this happening on my 2010 RX.

I don't do it very often, but I thought you can just put the car in park. Turn it off. Take your foot off the brake and then push the start button. The power button will come on in yellow and I think you have full accessory power. When you are done, just push the power button again to turn the system off. It seems like the accessory position on prior key based cars.

Yeah, the 10's do it or rather my 10 did it, don't know about all of them. When I first got the 450 and was cleaning it, I just kept turning the radio on after it'd shut off, till the battery died.

Maybe they should take a lesson from GM. When you turn the engine off you still have accessory power for almost everything for ten minutes or until you open the drivers door. I like that on our CTS and miss it on the RX.

Works that way on RX generation 1 & 2 not on generation 3. In addition and maybe this is because i have NAV now, the auto radio shut off seems way to quick. Dont remember that on my 2010. Having to push the start button after shutoff to keep the radio on is not so bad, but then you have to push the start button twice to shut it off. Maybe they fixed this on 2013?
