Don't know for sure on how cars are discounted in your area but I think your Lexus dealer can do better than $2k off MSRP. As others have stated and from different areas, it looks around $4500 or so off MSRP is doable and around the best deal. So your original offer of $5100 wasn't that far off. If they don't budge, check other dealers. One tip - maybe if you can get a quote with $4500 or more off MSRP from another nearby dealer, your dealer might match it.

Good luck and happy hunting !

Thanks to everyone in this forum! I just bought my first Lexus (2013 RX 450h) for $53k out the door (msrp of 55,345)

Does anyone have any recommendations on car covers while my garage is being renovated?

Costco had a very good one - heavy duty; use it on my 70 Camaro. Price was reasonable too.

My girlfriend was recently shopping the GX and RX to replace her GX.

She said $4k discounts were offered upfront, and $4600 off was about the best she got. This is the NYC area which is very competitive, a smaller market with one Lexus dealer, maybe not so much.

I just wanted to clarify... for those getting $4000-$4500 off MSRP, does that include the $1000 Lexus Loyalty discount? Since I'm new to Lexus, that doesn't apply to me. However, I did read a recent post that they were offering $1000 discount for financing... can anyone confirm that?

I went through their website - when I got to the dealer they gave me a price based on the INVOICE, not the MSRP. It was only 500$ more than I estimated based on the true value / edmonds website. I asked for 1000 more for my trade in, and they gave me 500 off the price and 500 more on the trade. I spoke with some friends and they say the lexus internet site is the way to go - and it worked for me!

Some advise. Negotiate over the phone with several dealerships. And never ask the sales rep for a price. Do your research (invoice, hold-backs, and incentives) and then tell them what your price is. Also, don't tell them how you arrived at your price. Don't be afraid to call several dealers. And don't buy any add-ons like ext. warr., paint protect., etc.

The local dealer has only come down to $3000 off MSRP (still $100 over invoice), they started at $2000 off MSRP. I have an offer from another state for about $3800 off MSRP, but, of course would have to fly out and drive back (400-500 miles). I waiting to hear if the out-of-state dealer can beat that price. Based on the posts here, I didn't think this was going to be this difficult...

You can rest assured that if they are sending email and openly offering $5000 off, they can go lower if asked/pushed. No doubt. Specify a price that is $5500 or more off and tell them that is my price !

You don't want to pay invoice price for the car. Most dealers will sell you a car all day for invoice price as they can make about $2000 on that deal, and many times more than that. You want to pay much less than invoice.

Perhaps, that's because you requested a quote from the sales rep. Not sure if you did that, but that's what many people do. That's the first mistake buyers make. We, as buyers, need to tell the sales rep what our price is. Be firm. Tell them this this is the price you need to get to in order to earn my business. Call other dealers too. All done over the phone.

The out-of-state dealer just came back with $4500 off MSRP. Now that's more like it. I'll give the local dealer one more shot. Otherwise, I guess I'll be flying out this week. A little nervous about buying out-of-state since I've never done it before.
