Lexus Factory Direct Orders for the RX 350...

Well, Paul, there is always the option of trying other dealerships that want your business and will special order. Some of us have had good luck with our dealers in that regard, and they welcome out of state buyers that come to their place. Why not consider a road trip to order or, or least pick up your vehicle? :-)
I once lived in Atlanta and flew to a dealership just south of Orange County in SoCal (now 60 miles north of where I live) to buy my 2002 SC430 and had it shipped back to me in Atlanta when I couldn't get delivery in Georgia after almost 8 months of being on a wait list. It can work, just takes a little more commitment on your part to make it happen once you are truly committed as to what you want.
...BTW, I belive 10% off is unrealistic, at least with the deal I ended up striking on a first-delivery 2013 RX450h. If you want to stick to that sort of discount, you may get to keep looking unfortunately until one is sitting on a lot somewhere that happens to match the configuration you desire. You will likely have to give one way or the other, no matter what dealer you work with.

my guess is that going through the internet will not get you a good deal for a special order because the salesman does not have any idea how serious you are. if you personally go down and say you want to special order and are willing to instantly put down a deposit, then I think you may have better luck. But try another dealer first

No, I don't play soccer!
Oh puhlease, placing a special order is not that big of a deal. It sounds like a ploy to deter you so you buy an RX already on their lot. If it's a matter of getting particular packages, extend your search area. Dealers can readily check what's coming in or do a swap. Good luck.

I special-ordered my RX350 with sport package in 2009. I was very particular about the options I wanted, and special order was the way to go.
I placed the order in June 2009, and took delivery 5.5 months later - the last Sunday in November.
My dealer agreed to about a $3K discount, which was about what I would have gotten with my credit union-approved buying service.
The dealership I used was an "Elite of Lexus" dealership. Tracking one down may be of use for a hard-to-configure order.

Ordered my 2013 RX 350 F Sport yesterday
After reading comments in the forum I decided to put in my Lexus order yesterday. I am ordering an F Sport with Nav, Mark Levinson, HUD, Blind Spot Monitor and Remote Start w/Smartphone interface. The car would be difficult to find in stock with all of options listed. I want these options because I currently own a 2010 model with everything except the BSM and RS. I didn't realize fully loaded RX's are that hard to find, mine was a manager's demo that I bought with 2,500 miles on it (probably hard to get rid of as I think back on it). I love the car and will be handing over to my wife. Even the F Sport is not in dealerships (or at least I've not seen one in person at the time of this post) I wanted to put my order in right away. As for the negotiated price, I have a ballpark price but was told there are no guarantees. I know what the MSRP is but will work on the price once the car arrives. I appreciate all of the valuable insight to be had on this forum.

I'm not sure what remote system will be installed. Not much information is available. I was told there are 2 options on the 2013 RX. One with smartphone interface and the standard version available now. I have tried to gather more information but have come up with nothing.

Received a call from my dealership yesterday, my special order F Sport has arrived. I placed the order on August 1st, it took 5 weeks. The Smart Start remote was not installed because the Lexus has not made it available as of yet. I was told my car was delivered so quickly because it was part of the dealers "preferred allocation". I will be picking it up tomorrow as the dealership is 75 miles away. Can't wait!
