Do I Need To Replace The Entire Door Panel or Just A Piece?
The interior of my rear passenger door has a couple of problems: a scratch in the leather and crazy dog damage to the vinyl near the window. I don't know what to call that part.
I've read through the forums and looked at some schematics... It looks as though the vinyl near the window is part of the entire door panel. Is that correct? I've attached pictures.
To get this door looking nice, I could just replace the door panel (or trim) and not worry about the scratch down below. If anyone has a link or number for the correct part, it would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a parts recycler can get you the panel from damaged car for a reasonable price. You might call Sewells (forum sponsor) and get a quote (get ClubLexus price) ... it should be less than Lexus dealer. Also ... a local body shop maybe able to significantly undercut the Lexus price on a new panel.
If the dog is going to be traveling in the car frequently, you might just want to leave it alone.

Stephen, both Xrunner and USCB have good solutions but do you still have the same dog ??? If it were me and I was getting ready to have it fixed, I'd wait till that dog don't hunt no more 'in the back seat' .

I agree. If you are going to continue to have the dog in the car there's no reason to repair now to have it happen again.

The door panel is one piece. If you insist on having the dog inside the RX, do yourself a favor and buy a harness to restrain him/her. It'll protect your door panel and the dog. BTW, it's the law here in NJ.

I put my pooch on the cargo area, before I put him in I flip the cargo cover so the black rubber is facing up. I have a basset hound short legs no damage, when he rides in the back he only sticks his head out if I am driving less than 20 mph. After I take him out I take out the cargo cover and shake all the hair off and put it back in its original position.
The door panel is one whole part, like they said before you can check the local junkyard also ebay too or the local upholsterer.
