We are about to purchase our first Lexus after having owned an 96 Infiniti I30 for 16 years. The vehicle as 175k miles and we are looking forward to the RX350. I wanted to get the group's opinion on the price of the vehicle as well as the blind spot option. The vehicle we will be purchasing is as follows:
RX 350 FWD
-Obsidian black w/ Saddle Tan interior
-Comfort Pkg
-19" Aluminum Alloy Wheels
-Nav System w/ Voice Cmd
-Intuitive Parking Assist
-Premium Pkg (w/o blind spot)
-Tow Prep Pkg
-Wood & Leather Trip Steering & Shift
-Preferred Accessory Pkg
-12 spkr premium audio pkg
Total Cost $45,660.00 (This is only $232 over pure invoice cost). My only other cost is $499 for the doc fee.
Is this a good price? It does not have the blind spot option. Is this something we should considering getting? It seems that it only blinks in the side view mirror and no audible warnings.

My first comment is to balk at the doc fee. I always do and it always works. Its just a way for them to make more $$. Its the cost of doing business. I just bought a Toyota Prius. After we agreed on a price (a thousand dollars UNDER invoice by the way), I said no to the doc fee. They agreed only after lots of complaining.
I did the same a few years ago on another car.
Negotiate your best deal on price and when they add the doc fee, say NO.
We are about to purchase a RX450h. I'll do the same thing on that sale. I'm still researching what I should pay.

I've never paid a doc fee. You may be able to negotiate a better deal ... it really is up to you ... it is tougher in some parts of the country and I think NC may be one of those locations (see earlier thread about prices on the east coast). I would definitely get the blind-spot option. These kinds of assists are very useful in the RX. If you keep your cars for a very long time, it may make sense to look for a vehicle with better fuel economy.

Just curious. Why would you go for the AWD in NC? I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of both choices. I'm in NH.

Just a safety concern, I purchased a AWD in CA even it does not rain or snow.
I want my wife to feel confident while driving and also to make sure my family is safe.
