Anybody Have a Sunglass Holder on their RX?
I have read numerous postings suggesting that the sunglasses holder in the overhead console on the RX line went away circa 2011 but there are conflicting reports about whether it has since returned. Does anyone know if it has returned to the 2013 RX 350? And if so, is it on all of those models or does that feature's presence depend on what options are on the vehicle? And, come to think of it, does the "S.O.S." feature come standard or as part of a package? Thanks in advance for any answers.

There is no sunglasses holder in the 2013 US RX350 or RX450h. The SOS function is up in that space on all US vehicles and is enabled complimentary for the first year of ownership.

That feature was only in the early build 2010 models. When the SOS feature came out it took the space up. So... Mine's worth an extra 10k for a usable feature ???

No, I don't play soccer!
Not quite, Jim. Nice try.
Lexus removed the sunglass holder back in August 2009 when the first Enform-equipped RXs with the SOS button rolled off the line. So there were a few '10s that had the feature, like Jim's.

First 2010RX were sold in US beginning March of 2009 so Jim and few of us were the first few on this forum. Another fact; Navi map Jim and I had were v8 verses owners that purchased later model were v9. Jim and I got free courtesy upgrade to v9.

No sunglasses holder in Thai version RX as well. We don't have the S.O.S button but we do have the theft deterrent system which detect any movement inside the car while parking.

Can the sunglass holder compartment be found separately (in Canada?) and installed in place of the SOS module? We don't care anything about Enform or SOS, but my wife wants her sunglass holder back. She finds it really irritating that all my Fords have this, and her Lexus does not.

Sunglasses holders above the windshield are dangerous anywhere it gets fairly hot. In the next 10 days here the temperature is expected to range from 98 deg. F to 111 deg. F. Plastic lenses and frames in the holder will soften and be severely distorted in cars outside in this weather.

I have the sunglasses holder in my (Canadian) RX and although it is convenient, it is just barely large enough and closing it is slightly forced. No issues with heat/melting lenses even in my trips to the US.
I would personally save the $260 on the overhead console/sunglass holder, plus the work/risk to remove the existing one. Consider a simple visor clip. Had that on my CT and now IS. Not the most elegant, but very inexpensive and practical.
