2010 RX350 AWD weird mileage issue
Hi,
So for the past 2.5 years every time I fill up I can only get 16.X gallons in max, this is driving until cruising range shows 3-5 miles left.
Normally after filling up my cruising range always shows 243 miles.
Today I brought my RX to the dealer for an issue with the car not being able to start and oil change. They found the car had a dead cell and performed the oil change and gas pedal recall. They filled up the tank and when I picked up my car I noticed the cruising range said 361 miles.
WTF? I have called the dealer several times to ask about the low mileage I was getting and they have always blamed it on winter mix or break in period.
What could have caused this drastic change in mileage?

Curious to know how much fuel you put in when the DTE shows only 3-5 miles remaining? Have you ever calculated your MPG based on the number of miles travelled divided by the actual number of gallons used?

What is a dead cell?

Cruising range is calculated based on the vehicle's driving history-I drive in the city only, after fill-up my range can be 240-250 miles; if I get onto highway, re-set the trip computer and fill up after driving at 60 mph, the range is over 400 miles.
the original poster's RX was probably re-set by the dealer when they did the recall, and possibly test-driven after that at higher speed, thus the increased cruising range..

I think I may be a little jealous of you guys on here, as my crusing range DTE is pretty much always at around 289 miles. That's for most of the city driving that I do. I don't think I've ever gotten higher than 350 miles to empty when driving on a long trip.
