Talking Ipod connectivity problem

My brand new 2013 Rx 450H recognizes my i-phone as a bluetooth appliance, but I want it to accept it as an iPod. As a Bluetooth device, I have no control and can't select playlists, etc. As an iPod, I will be able to do this. At least I could with my 2010 model of the same vehicle. But since I've upgraded to a 2013 model, when I try to get it recognized as an iPod, it initially shows iPod on the menu, but then immediately disconnects. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Welcome to CL and congratulations on your new RXh!

iPod connection is via USB cable. Plug your iPhone in using a real Apple cable. Assuming you have a more recent level of iOS on your iPhone, it should work -- my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1 on my 2013 RX450h with Nav and Mark Levinson works fine in both BT and physical iPod connection mode.

There are some limitations on one's ability to select things with the BT implementation compared to the physical iPod way. The recent threads below may be of assistance in that regard.

p262 related to iPod connectivity, and p269 related to BT in this manual may also be of assistance.
