Great thread this - I had problems with iphone5 - ios6 - 2011RX.

Did as suggested above - paired the music first then the phone.

Works a treat now - thanks all.

Same problem here on a 2013 GS 350. It works if I unplug the lightning cable, but refuses to stream through anything other than BT (which doesn't sound so great, anyways). Anyone have it working?

Can you explain step by step how you did this? Phone calls work flawlessly but music does not work at all. My iPhone 4 connected via BT no problems at all. I can't seem to figure the new phone.

Erased all the phones in the car and went to menu-> audio-> BT tab-> connect. Hit the connect button and it gives me an error message.

Default iPhone 5 with Lightning to 30-pin Adapter Variation

As a follow-on to my original Post #5 in this thread, today I received the new "Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adapter" which allows one to use an original Apple 30-pin connector cable, attach the new lightning adapter to it, and an iPhone 5 to that. Results were successful in all tests with this additional hardwired combination. Please see the original post for complete detail, and simply add in this set of tests:

- iPhone hardwired via USB (with Apple 30-pin cable and Lightning to 30-pin Adapter):
---- iPhone charges -- SUCCESS
---- Playing iPhone music via Lexus audio "iPod" interface -- SUCCESS
---- Placing a call while listening to FM -- SUCCESS
---- Placing a call while listening to iPhone music -- SUCCESS
---- Receive a call while listening to FM -- SUCCESS
---- Receive a call while listening to iPhone music -- SUCCESS

Please keep in mind that all Lexus dealerships are now supposed to have a Lexus Vehicle Technology Specialist on staff to answer these types of questions and problems. Do not hesitate to run your hardest questions by them to see how good they are and let us know how they do.

True. The challenge remains I believe that the iPhone 5 is not (yet) officially supported by Lexus per the Lexus Mobile Site, so my experience with Lexus specialists is they won't be able to get a lot of official assistance to support them behind the scenes to their customers until that occurs. I wouldn't expect Toyota/Lexus to get the testing for all models and MY done within just a couple of weeks of a new phone being made available by any manufacturer. For that reason over the next few weeks, we may need to try and assist one another as much as possible. I agree though, use official Lexus resources as much as possible -- it's what we pay for when we purchase our Lexus.

I erased the old phones and went into audio as you did. I may have gone into the bluetooth on the phone first and scanned for devices. I had to put a 4 figure code in. Once that was connected i added the phone on the phone settings of the car, and put the generated code in again - although this code was different to the audio pairing code.

Still working great. Hope this helps.

Finally got it to work! Not with your method though.

After playing around with it for 15 mins, I decide to just try and reset the whole computer. This is when I bumped into Bluetooth menu found in menu->setup->audio->bt audio settings. I had to remove my old iPhone 4 from that list. I think all this time my car was trying to find the iPhone 4's bt and not searching for the iPhone 5's bt.

After I removed it, I registered the new bt and it was working flawlessly.

I really took this feature for granted! I bought another lightning cable just for the music which I guess I'll leave in to charge my phone.

Thank you very much. I gave up way too early thinking it was an ios6 issue.

Sewell Lexus in Dallas has a Lexus Vehicle Technology Specialist. He set up my iPhone 5 today with our 450h. Showed me how to do it, and explained everything. Noticed they had information cards near the coffee area promoting the service.

Not trying to take anything away from folks trying to help others here in the forums. What I am hoping to do is drum up knowledge of this fairly new service and to get some feedback as to its worthiness and how each dealership does.

I would expect the information the Lexus Vehicle Technology Specialists have at their fingertips will be vastly more than what we will ever see online from Lexus in any form. In some ways I am thinking they will be using this as a way to drive you to the dealership. They have long had the opportunity to provide a much wider range of video how-to files online regarding features within their product lines and have not done so. Most is sales oriented.

Also, have seen many times over the years where problems involving new tech devices such as MP3 players and phones to be situation specific. These really require hands-on time to see what is truly going on.

Guess we should expect nothing but stellar reviews coming out about Sewell. Good to hear this went well for you. Did you setup an appointment or did you just walk in to do this?

I just walked in and got immediate service, although I would have waited, as I like to browse around. The information cards promoting the service has a phone number listed to call for an appointment.

Hi all - great updates so far but I have a question that might seem random but I don't think was discussed:

I have a 2012 IS 250 (with Nav but no ML) and an iPhone 4S with iOS6. When I bought the car in July 2012, and connected all bluetooth tools (phone and audio) I had no problem controlling the iPod via bluetooth when the phone was hardwired through the 30-pin Apple USB cable. Now, when the phone is connected via USB I can't control the iPod via Bluetooth. I tried disconnecting all bluetooth devices, unregistering, etc. and re-connecting/registering, yet I'm not having any luck.

Does anyone know if this is an iOS issue or am I doing something wrong with the settings in my car? Thanks for any and all feedback.

Default ...Iphone5....I can't use....

I have tried to follow ALL the entries on this thread but since I am technically challenged I am having a hard time understanding all that is said.as well as procedures that others have followed.
I have a 2012 RX350 no navigation and the only thinkg that I want to td is connect the wife's IPHONE5, just received, to the bluetooh in the car.
I have been able to pair and connect and evreything appears to be correct, but when a phone call comes in , it rings in the car but when we try to answer we can not hear the caller or reply.....should I contact LEXUS or is there anything that I am missing in the pairing?
thank you all and sorry if my questions or lack of knowledge which I know can be annoying:

No problems, svofan1. These are exactly the situations which might be better for you to visit the Lexus showroom and ask for the Lexus Vehicle Technology Specialist.
