SVOFAN1 i had the same problem phone rings but no voice, looked at the phone and could hear the caller on the phones speaker, i think the i phone speakers need to be turned off to get sound over the car speakers. sorry i have not verified this yet. but about half the time my phone and the car work correctly.

I have a 2013 RX350 and an IPhone 5. I have it hooked up via Bluetooth and it works flawlessly. There is an option for messages on the navigation screen but it is grayed out. From what I have heard you are supposed to be able to receive and display text messages on the nav screen. Anyone know how to set this feature up?

To receive text messages, you need to enable "notifications" in the iPhone's Settings app. Open the Settings app, select the Bluetooth option, and under Devices you should see one called "Car Multimedia" which is the RX. Tap on the blue arrow to the right of it to display the Bluetooth settings for the RX. Turn "Show Notifications" ON and then exit the Settings app. You should now receive text messages on the RX nav screen, however you cannot reply to those messages until Apple updates iOS to version 6.1 and that's not expected for another few weeks.

thank you guys...but I do not have navigation, so most of the stuff that you guys mentioned is "foreign" to me...I tried again and I still have a problem with the Iphone 5...and the dealer guy (expert) did not have an answer and could not fix the problem....I am not ready to let them change a unit on the dash ...I will simply not use it...thanks again....

iPhone 5 BT portable device pairing
Bert, I got it to work, this is what I did, I deleted my pairing then I paired the music first then the phone.
The first time I paired my iPhone I only had to do it once through the phone section so not sure why it had to be done this way this time but it works so I am not complaining.

Thanks so much for posting how you were able to get you iPhone 5 to pair with the audio bluetooth section. I was having the same issues and saw your solution and it worked beautifully! Now I can see the BT enabled in the audio menu when I couldn't get to it before. Sure, I had to reload my contacts after deleting my phone from the system, but that's an easy fix.
This forum is SO helpful!
There's a lot of sophisticated issues and behaviors with owning the new generation of RX's and this forum makes it a lot easier to deal with, especially when the only free time is on a Sunday afternoon when Lexus dealerships are closed.

iphone 5s issue with bluetooth solved
I drive a 2010 RX350 with navigation. I just got the iPhone 5s and had no trouble connecting to the car multimedia player under add a phone, however my bluetooth would only work for the phone and not play my iPhone music over bluetooth. I called applecare and they told me to go to Lexus. We finally figured it out in case anyone else has this issue. Go to the display, choose audio and add a portable device for audio (it's different than just connecting to multimedia under add a phone). It connected and now my bluetooth works like it did on my iPhone 4.

This may need to be a new thread, but since this thread is really about iPhone integration, I will post my question here.
I have a 2013 RX 350 with navigation. I have been using a Blackberry Torch and everything has been working well. I recently had to move to an iPhone 5 for work. I liked it when new e-mails came in on the Blackberry and the car would offer to read the message to me. The iPhone does not seem to offer this level of functionality. The car does not even report new e-mails, let alone offer to play them. Have I missed some setting on the phone or with the Bluetooth settings in the car.
I have been hearing how the iPhone is such a superior phone so I have to believe I have missed some setting. At this point, it just seems like a major downgrade. Of course, the Enform suite is now available, and that wasn't available for the old BB Torch phone. In reality, I'm not finding much value to Enform, but I got a great deal of value to having the car read my messages to me while driving, so I am hoping there is some way to turn that back on with the iPhone.
I would appreciate any suggestions. I have not spoken with my dealer's technology specialist yet so he may also be able to offer some guidance so this doesn't truly turn into a "downgrade."
Thanks.
Doug

Doug, there are differences between what an iPhone will do vs Blackberry... and of course if the phone does not first do something, then we can't expect our vehicle to.
For starters, if you don't have it, bookmark this site http://lexus.com/mobilelink/
You can put in a combination of phone, carrier, your car, if you have Nav or not, etc and it will provide what is and is not supported, along with pairing information, etc for those that need it. You can then see what's different between your iPhone and your old BB if you are so inclined.
I'm not familiar with an iPhone being able to read emails in my RX... I could be wrong, but do a few Google searches, as I just did... Many hits there that the Blackberry has a capability (MAP) not implemented in the iPhone... So my take is, if Apple does not provide it, your Lexus couldn't do it.
...and just in case, since it's a pretty common problem, if you have not enabled Notifications on your iPhone, you won't get text mags through to your RX... (And no, you can't reply due to Apple implementation). On your iPhone with iOS7, go to Settings / Bluetooth / Click the "i" next to the connection for your RX / and ensure "Show Notifications" is on.
Good luck.

Thank you VERY much for your informative response Bert.
As to the phone settings, yes I have already turned on the notifications and the SMS Text messages are displaying just fine. Unfortunately, most of my communication comes in via e-mail rather than text messages so I really liked that feature with my old Torch.
I do also realize the net result will depend on both the capabilities of the phone as well as those of the vehicle. When you hear all the hype about the iPhone, it just surprises me when it is so severely limited when compared to a two year old Blackberry. Frankly, I would take the Blackberry back in 2 seconds since it's interface with the vehicle is so much more practical (I just wish it was my choice). Now my old Blackberry didn't have the Enforms app, so there are definitely trade-offs. The thing is, the e-mail feature was something I used all the time, the Enforms apps I would only use on occasion.
That link you provided to http://lexus.com/mobilelink is very intriguing. Sadly, it isn't entirely accurate either. It didn't show any of the streaming options as being compatible with my Blackberry and yet it functioned exactly as the new iPhone.
Anyway, your post was extremely helpful and I thank you kindly sir.
