I had my roof racks removed as well, very happy makes washing the car/roof and drying MUCH easier. Dealer removed them for $65 out the door.

I have no intention of selling my racks. They retail for $1400 and Sewell has them for $1000. That's the beuatty of the Sewell kit I can put them back on at anytime. I have them bubble wrapped and safely stored. I'm sure it would affect the resale value.

That's a good price. Did you get to keep the racks?

It looks great without the roof racks. Something for me to consider. Thanks for the information!

I'm going to remove mine also. If anyone is interested in buying the complete roof rack let me know. Anyone actually sell theirs willing to share how much they sold them for?

I am probably going to have my dealership take the rack off. I do not want to risk it leaking! I will post a pic when it's done. Thanks for all the info. Definitely helped me make the decision.

Not sure, trying to research what is a reasonable price. If interested make me an offer and we can go from there.

Thinking of doing this on our '10. The screw heads on the underside of the rack, securing each end to the mounting ends, are rusting. I've seen the rust on the white paint.
Are the Sewell kits an OEM product ?

Cheers

Everything appeared to be OEM. It all came in bags with parts numbers on it. You get bolts, a gasket, a metal clip and the black plastic cover that snaps on. You want to make sure you get the bolts sealed good because the holes go all the way through the roof and could leak into the interior. The bolts they send you are shorter than the ones you take out. I used Teflon tape and silicone around the top to be sure I had a good seal. I would be concerned about rust showing up on your rack. I would pop the plastic cover off and take a look inside to see how bad the rust is and where it is coming from.

I didn't know that it was possible to remove them with a toolkit.

Rust is external only, sourced from the screw heads on the underside of the rack.

Asked a question to Sewell & just received my reply. I was concerned about weather sealing the bolt holes as I've read here.
The bolts contained in their kit have a seal/sealant on them.
I'll order & see what I get.
