I just purchased one of these with a mirror tap attachment http://blendmount.com it connects right to the rear view mirror. When I traded in the 09' Lexus RX350 I didn't sign the paper until they agreed to install in the 14' at no cost. I use a Escort 9500ci detector. Works great.

I just finished installing my new Escort Passport Max in our 2010 RX by using one of those short (8"-10") power cords with inline fuse sold on eBay for $9 shipped. Yes, the black wire was the switched +12v and the white wire was ground on the mirror's plug. Just inserted the wires into the back of the plug, and zip-tied them so they wouldn't move and voila, all done.

However, the Passport max only has this new "sticky cup" thingy for mounting, and the entire detector now interferes with the mirror and the driver's sun visor. No ready answer to this one.

Thanks, I have looked at the BlendMount as an option. According to emails I recently received from manufacturers of similar, yet way cheaper mounts ($30-35), there will be multiple options for me by this coming summer. I'll live with what I have until then, rather than spend $90 for the BlendMount. Not that I'm particularly cheap, I just don't see the value in the BlendMount.

I noticed the MirrorMount on Fleabay and Amazon for $35, I'm a Prime member but I could not find a dedicated website for this brand of mount. So I went with BlendMount. The BlendMount is a very nice mount...should last forever. I'm thinking of purchasing the new MAX by Escort and all I need to do is purchase a clip for around 30 dollars to make that happen. Just found the website...

Not a bad looking mount. May be a bit more noticeable from the outside than the BlendMount but other than that not a bad looking mount.

As with anything price is just price and the V1 isn't the most expensive RD. The V1 can be a good option for those that it is suited to but it is certainly not the most sensitive RD out there. Anyone looking to buy should do their due diligence on sites dedicated to the topic. As with any product one solution is not the best fit for all. Others may be better served by one of Escort's offerings or yet another RD.

I myself swear by the V1, wouldn't even consider another brand! We have one in the Wife's car and I swap my V1 between my other cars. Using the arrows allows you to see where the threat is coming from and leaves the guessing out of the equation. Simple as that! Hearing a threat beep but having to guess from what direction it came from (front/ back/ side) is unnerving too me!

I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to put my RD. From the pictures I've seen here, the rear view mirror "blend mount" attachment looks a tad low, and I do like the RD a little more incognito if possible!

The BlendMount hugs the bottom of the rear view mirror pretty tight IMO

I agree! The Blendmount hangs your RD right out there in plain sight--and in the sun too--where it will surely be instantly noticed by any LEO approaching your vehicle.

This morning I fiddled around a bit more with the "sticky cup" and it now interferes less with the mirror. Plus, the whole thing is tucked up just under the o/h console and is almost completely hidden by the dotted area of the windshield and is almost invisible from outside. I can live with it now until I find something better.

I have been using the mirror as a power source for my radar detector for years.

Valentines do not compare to the new Escort MAX.

Here's an alternative to the Blendmount which is less costly and much more solidly constructed:

I have these in our GS and Pilot.

Despite the earlier assertion to the contrary, it looks like they do compare, which makes sense since they are designed to do the same thing. Each one has excellent features and specifications, and the overall test results are very close. The choice in such situations boils down to which features are more important to you. As a big fan of the arrows, I find the V-1 best suits my needs. In addition, I already own it and it's clear that the cost to change is not at all commensurate with the slight advantages of the other in the various areas where it tested better.

+1 for the arrows! Also, running the Waze app on my phone provides further validation of where the signal is coming from.
