Hi,
I just bought a 2010 RX450H CPO and am bothered by the fact that the front tires has uneven treadwear. One is brand new (10/32) and the other is old (5/32) ... they replaced one tire AFTER the certification due to some tire damage on one.
Is that of any concern? Is there something that anyone can point me to that I can use to have the dealer replace the other tire?
Are there any performance issue due to uneven treadwear.
Thank you for any pointers ... much appriciated.
Happy new member of the RX450H family.

Getting a CPO car from a Lexus dealer should mean the purchaser can expect reasonably new tires all around. Go back speak politely but firmly as to your expectations.
And welcome to C/L, post photos when you can.

congrats on the new purchase! i'm in exactly the same boat on a 2010 RX450h.
my tires show 70% as the CPO, and the brakes are "like new" - which I believe...these hybrids are fantastic with brake pads!

On a front wheel drive car both tires should have equal wear. If one tire has less wear than the other the car will pull. One tire will travel further than the other thus creating pull. I know, I have lived it. They will try and throw them on the back were it does not matter as much but, eventually you do have to rotate the tires. Insist on 2 new tires. Good Luck....

To my understanding when I was shopping for a used RX we checked out many CPOs and every one of them on the Lexus dealer lots had new tires all the way around. I asked tdew salesman why only the CPOs had new tires and not the non CPOs he told me that it can only be sold as certified preowned if it passes the guidelines in which he said it states tire have to be new or like new or something like that.

You could call Lexus customer service and ask what is max. difference in thread wear between the tires.
I do not know about Toyota's rear differential, but those complicated ones in volvos and Land Rovers require similar tire circumference, otherwise they can go out in a long run.

orangedr, welcome to CL and congrats on your 450h. The tires on the RX should have minimal tire wear to qualify as CPO. What brand are they? What's the mileage? I would definitely contact the dealer and ask them to replace the old tire especially if it's original.

For reference:
The car I'll be picking up shows only 6/32nds, and it's a 2010 with 16,000 miles, running on the Dunlops...

The legal tire tread limit to sell a car in CA is 3/32 ... that being said ... one is risking by driving with less than 2/32 ... so with 6/32 you will need to change tires soon .... my guess is within a year
