I like to warm up the car in my driveway with the doors locked. My new 2013 rx 350 does not allow me to lock doors with engine running. Is there something i am missing?I want to lock doors with the engine running.

Are you trying to start the RX, then leave it to warm up?
If yes, you can do that using remote start. The doors will be locked.

Remote start uses the factory fob if you have it installed.

Can you use the metal key that is inside the FOB? It is the silver coloured piece at the bottom of the FOB. just slide the release and the metal key pops out and you can manually lock the door.

I Think He's Wanting To Start The Car From The Inside (Of The Car) Then Lock The Door And Walk Away With It Still Running.

Did you try the following:

1. Start the car, walk out, leave the door open.
2. Place your fob away from detection and leave it there (> 4 feet away from the open door to be safe) or place it in your left hand and stretch out your arm as far away as possible.
3. Press the lock button on the door armrest with your right hand and close the door.

I'd try it but it's FREEEzing tonight. Give it a shot and post back.

Two words, remote start. I can start the RXh from inside with a simple lock, lock, lock hold on the key fob. It turns off when a door handle is touched or 10 minutes, whichever comes first. corrado, it's freezing here too. I was almost tempted to use remote start before heading home tonight. This weather really stinks!

+1 for the remote start.

Another possible option. What if you start the car, open the window, walk out, close door, reach in with the key in your hand and lock the doors and then close the window?

I wish the car did not shut off when entering while using remote start.

Well, remote start meets the parameters for being turned on and locked which is what nightdiff is looking for. And I don't find restarting the RXh an inconvenience. I have to step on the brake anyway to shift into gear so it only takes an extra step/second.

Try turning the metal key in the opposite direction. I used manual locking method all winter long, and still couldn't tell you which way to turn the key to lock the door even if my life depended on it.
