Is VDIM available on the RX or only on the F Sport? If it is an option on the RX, would I need it since I live in an area where snow and ice are rare? Wouldn't EBD, BA and VSC be sufficient? Would VDIM be just something else that could give mechanical problems later on? Thanks to all!

VDIM is a reactive feature to pull you back when you push the car a little too far through the performance envelop that safety may be compromised. It won't give you better traction.
In my opinion, if you have AWD, ABS, and TRAC/VSC you're more than okay for any condition. Unless you routinely drive like a maniac - in which case you might want to buy a tank instead. =)

VDIM is standard on the RX450h. Don't know the details of the 350.
I would describe it differently.
VDIM is basically an extension to VSC, it monitors and reacts via a superset of inputs and outputs from VSC. To borrow some words here, VSC is a reactive feature to pull you back when you push the car a little too far. VDIM is the system that starts to nudge you back BEFORE you push the car a little too far.
The system is applicable and useful in any situation VSC would be.

VDIM is like having 1 nanny instead of 2 (VSC, Trac), giving you more room to play. It works very well and can be very transparent.
The way I look at it, VSC smacks you on your hands when you loose traction due to steering input and Trac on your foot for giving it too much gas.
Would you rather have 1 person yell at you or 2?
VDIM is standard on F-Sport and 450h.
Personally, I would prefer VDIM regardless of weather conditions.

No, I don't play soccer!
VDIM nanny, that is funny. But it's saved my butt from slipping a few times. In fact it's the only way I realized there was a problem. The RX corrected itself. Maybe bodyguard is more appropriate. I'm glad to see it's available in the F-Sport too.
Slightly off topic, can VDIM be turned off on the F-Sport? Not that I'm advising to.
