The 3rd gen RX Tire Thread

the OEM Michelin had 95,000 km ( 60,000 miles) were probably good still for a summer , but a little iffy for a winter
also dropped a speed rating to H from V , it is a SUV and not a sport car. We live in a small town , longest trip in town is 8 km round trip , lol , so most miles are open hiway
I do have Defenders LTX on a pick up for 2 years , and very happy with them, no problems in snow and after 20,000km there appears to be no wear on them

I also dropped from a V to an H on my 2013 Subaru Outback 3.6R when I put a set of General Altimax RT43 tires on it right at two years ago. SUVs do not typically require V-rated tires and I know the H-rated tires will provide longer treadlife. Been very happy with these Generals thus far (a 65,000-mile treadwear warranty) and expect to install a set on my wife's new-to-us 2015 RX350 when the mediocre-but-new Kumho Eco Solus tires that came on it wear out.

Goodyear Vs Michelin
Need new tires for my 2012 RX350. I currently have Michelin Latitude Touring which was replaed at 37K mileage.
Looking for suggestion -
Michelin Primacy MXM4 P235/60R18 vs Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring?
Things which I found out and am considering:
- Goodyear (180$) is cheaper than Michelin ($220) by $160 for all 4 tires (from Sears)
- Goodyear seems to be having longer threadlife - 70K miles (Michelin gave me 37K miles both times)
- Need smooth ride - I know Michelin does offer that but not sure about Goodyear

Regardless of what tire you decide on, my advice is to shop around besides Sears. Check with Discount Tire if they are in your area. Great service throughout the life of the tire and the best prices in our area for many years. Good luck.

New tire recommendation - 2013 RX AWD
Can anyone recommend a tire replacement? The dealership prices were almost $300/tire which seemed excessive. Boston climate, don't need snow tires but probably shouldn't do the cheapest either.

also have them on a pick up for two years , and pretty happy with them

Had these tires on my 2012 Acura TL, they are horrible in snow!
I went from Bridgestone to the Continental DWS and they are the best riding and quiet tires. I have the 3rd set now on my Acura TL. If you want year round performance and a quiet ride, IMHO, this is the way to go. Highly rated on tire rack as well.

What are you expecting from them? Where are you going to do most of your driving?
My friend has Continental DWS06 on his BMW X5 and he does fine around here in Denver but they are a pretty penny in 18" sizes.
I just bought mine last week and it has Cooper CS5 Ultra touring and they did well in our recent wet and sloppy snow we got here in Denver and I looked them up and the price was much palatable.

A great bang-for-the-buck all-season tire is the General Altimax RT43. I have had an H-rated set on my 2013 Outback 3.6R since December 2016 and can confirm that they are fantastic in all weather conditions, including 8 inches of snow.
