I don't know what I am doing wrong, but this didn't work. How do you reset and how do you do this with the smart key? Apparently I am just stupid.

Display trip meter A, then turn power off.
While pressing the ODO/TRIP button, turn the power switch to on mode.
Keep the ODO/TRIP button pressed for about five seconds. Reset is complete when 000000 in the trip meter flashes once and the message in the multi-information display disappears.
If that doesn't work for you, stop by your dealer and have them guide you through this process.

I don't see an odometer trip button on the dash anywhere(only the controls on the steering wheel) and how do you turn the power switch to on mode since it only has the smart key? There is no ignition switch

Well, the answer to the original question has been found in the manual:

After the required maintenance is performed according to the maintenance schedule, please reset the maintenance data.

See Page 731

With your foot on the brake, press the start button. That will put the vehicle in the ON mode and will start the engine.
With your foot NOT on the brake, press the start button once. That is the same as ACC mode. Press it again and it will go into the ON mode with the engine off.

I'm assuming you can do in the UK what many of us do in the states: Lexus for warranty service and Toyota for regular maintenance.

I had my RX in for the 20,000 service last week (basically just change the synthetic oil, rotate tires and check the fluids). Total cost including tax was $101.95

I've seen prices here as high as $350 for the same service at the Lexus Dealer.

Coffee at Toyota was Starbucks, but no chair massage or shoe shine.
