OK, so this is now Year 9, Month 10 of ownership for the RX 350. And it is now time to sell it and move on to the next car adventure.
My last repair/maintenance item was Friday - replaced a TPMS sensor on the rear passenger tire so that the dash light would go away - in preparation for a possible trade-in discussion with the Toyota dealer.
So it's official - I have bought a 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, AWD, and will be selling the RX. The dealer lowballed the trade-in at ~ 53% of clean "owner sale price."
So I will be ending this journey, having put 256,500 miles on the car. I will sell it myself; even with the averaged "clean FSBO" value of the Edmunds, Kelley and NADA reports at $8,500, the dealer didn't make a decent offer. I would have been willing to let it go for $7k (retail is $10k). They offered $4500, so I said nope.
So pics will be taken tomorrow, the CL posting will go live soon, and I will no longer be a ClubLexus owner. I may still check in every now and then, but I wanted to say Thank You to all here - most especially @Anita .

Sandi - just curious whether you considered an American car, like, uh, Tesla. I think you drive a lot but also have more than one car for the family so seems like a perfect use case for a Tesla as a daily driver. Also, you have heard us here in Club Lexus say that Toyota is not a Lexus.:-)
Also, she said that she puts her RX350 on Craigslist and leaving the Club Lexus, this suggests she knows that Toyota is not Lexus.

2012 RX350 with 216K, mostly all highway. Never any major issues - always changed the oil religiously. I got this car from my Mom and some of the stuff was never tended to, so I changed the plugs recently and changed the transfer and differential fluids. My next task will be changing the coolant (hasn't been done since ~80k) and I will likely change the transmission fluid (never changed! eek). The tranny shifts great and I'm hoping that all the highway miles make it fine to change at this point.
Also, check the moisture content of your brake fluid, that may need to be changed too.
Drain and fill of the transmission fluid is always a good idea, but don't do a full flush. Before you mess with the transmission, inspect for any sign of leaks.

What was the condition of the transfer case and diff oil? Was it really dirty? How about the magnet? a lot of shavings?

I'm going to take a sample of transmission fluid from the fill hole and hope it isn't black and burnt, then I'm going to order a new filter and drop the pan and refill.

And adjusting the ATF level is a little more complicated than on cars with dipsticks, but not too bad.

He has a Chevy Bolt, all-electric. I needed something with better range as the "family car." The RAV4 hybrid gets 500+ miles per tank.
Electric car ranges are not quite there, yet. And Teslas are stupid-expensive still. (Yeah, I know, Model 3 - but I hate sedans, so that's a No Go for me).

Hi everyone, first I will outline my family's lineup (all owned since new) so there is some context:
Dad- 2008 GX 470- 191k
Mom- 2013 RX 350- 91k
Grandma 1- 2012 RX 350- 60k
Grandma 2 - 2012 RX 350- 23k
Both grandpa's have Toyotas and so do I
So my question is: what type of longevity should I expect from the RX 350? Are there any major repairs I should be concerned about? I know they have timing chains (RX) so do they ever have to be replaced? In regards to the 23k mile RX, any general or specific advice for keeping it in tip-top shape since it barely gets driven?
I appreciate any advice, I am also new to Club Lexus.

Mine is a 2010 R350 and bought, Sept 1 of that year. 147,500 miles. Just buying the fourth set of tires this week (Michelin Latitude Tour) and have been averaging 50k on each set. Brakes have been done three times. I change the oil (Walmart - $55) using synthetic every nine months (7,000 miles or so). I'm 68 and tell everyone that this is the last car I will ever own because I am going to drive it into the ground! Never had a problem.
I detail it every six months, wash/clay/wax/polish and it still looks pretty good.
=====================================
Update Sept 20, 2022 - 177k miles. Still no issues at all.

Since I started this thread, thought I'd finish it out. I sold the RX 350 in October, with 258k miles on it.
I replaced it with a 2019 RAV4 hybrid. And while I agree that the RAV4 is not a Lexus, it is pretty comfortable, and is serving me well as a commuter car. Instead of 21 mpg, I'm now averaging 41 mpg. And since I was averaging nearly 25k miles per year, that is a LOT of money saved on gas.
Happy motoring!

Reached 162k today on my 2010. Owned since 43k. It has been a workhorse.
In my 120k of ownership i have replaced:
Tires twice,
brakes twice,
battery 3 times
and one unscheduled repair of valve solenoid.
Pretty solid compared to my BMW.
I am itching for something new--but feel stupid to let go of a car that is 1) paid off and running beatifully, 2) perfect all year round and let's my sports car stay tucked away during the winter, and 3) pay the crazy covid premiums these days.
Curious how people are faring on their 3rd gen for miles and how long they plan to keep it!

Currently at about 225,000, after 12+ years as the original owner. It's passed down from being a daily driver, to oldest daughter's school car, to now youngest daughter's school car. Not sure what happens when she heads to college in the fall.
A/C Compressor at 200K has been the only non-maintenance service needed. It's still on the second battery. I was thinking of replacing it, but at a recent state inspection, they claimed to have hooked it up for diagnosis and said it's fine.
webuyanycar says they'll give me nearly $10K for it. Autotrader shows $10-12K as the going price.
In comparison, our 3-year newer BMW just blew up, short of 150K miles.
