Oil pan replacement, my responsibility at 60k?

Well, out of curiosity, I'm going to ask my SA this Saturday about how many oil pan replacements she's seen on the 3RX. She's been my SA for almost 15 years and taken care of all three of my RXs. That's 25 oil changes without incident.

Mark, like Anita said, get your keys and then see if you can get the service manager and general manager together for a chat at the same time. It's important the general manager knows why the service dept is running off future business. One of my retirements is from the car business and trust me, the Gen MGR won't appreciate news like that. That should leave the service manager squirming as you leave . And he 'may' offer some type of gratis to keep you.
so the service manager called me back and said they'll take care of this oil pan replacement as a one time good-will thing, i can't say i'm a 100% happy, but i'm glad they are taking care of it. now i probably need to pay full price on the oil change ($130+) and two rear brake pads ($250+), because they previously gave me a discount with the oil pan replacement.

Tell the GM and SM that you want an audience with the Region SM

I changed out an oil pan on my '90 Land Cruiser after 177K and 20 years because the oil pan had rusted under the undercoating.
That is 'wear and tear'!!
The issue that you had was a Tech not paying attention to his work and over torquing the bolts that secure the oil pan to the block.
This caused the failure, then a Service Writer wanted to protect the dealer's bottom line at the expense of good customer service.
The dealership has a training issue, and they should admit it and apologize to you for even suggesting that it was your responsibility .
The engine in your Lexus RX is made of extremely high quality materials, designed to very precise specifications, the idea of an oil pan 'wearing out at 60K is Ludicrous!!!!......gm

so this morning i took my '10 rx350 into service just for an oil change, an hour + later the service guy escorted me to my car and told me that i needed a new oil pan. they showed me the threads from the oil pan is worn and the screw would not hold the oil w/o leak. so my question is, is the dealership responsible for this or it's part of wear and tear that i need to pay outta pocket? i have done all of my oil changes at this dealership and nowhere else, and my car is outta warranty now with 60k miles. i have never had this problem nor heard of it from any friends, and it's a $350 fix, so i'm feeling a bit upset because i feel that it's their fault. any comments or suggestions are welcomed. thanks in advance.
As you are out of warranty I would be looking to just take your vehicle to the nearest Toyota shop and their Express Lube Service. Same oils and filters for a fraction of the price and you are out in under an hour.

Pole Position
Plus you get to drive into the service bay and also stand right there as they perform the service. At least they do at the Toyota dealership I go to.

I talked to the tech who worked on my RXh this morning and asked him about oil pans having to be replaced. Pretty rare but no surprise, he said it happens when the drain plug is over torqued. No mention of 'wear and tear' whatsoever. He tends to keep the plug on the looser side to avoid stripping the thread and would have checked mine. But an oil change wasn't needed.
