Default Phone??

Hi all,
Just traded my gx for a '10 rx350 with navi. I am having an issue already and before I take to dealer I thought I would ask here.
Under the Menu/Start screen there's the category for info/phone. However, when I click on it Phone is not a subcategory. I had no problems pairing the bluetooth audio part and seems to working correctly. Also the voice commands do not work either. I accessed the configuration screen and turned microphone up to 5.
Does the SOS system need to be active, bc its not. I haven't checked the fuse yet but about too.

Any input would be appreciated.

Adam, to properly answer your question, I'd have to resort to my manual because it's been a while since I set mine up. Do you have a manual? Working it out in your driveway with the book open is the best way. If you still have issues after that, then PM me and we'll try to get you up and going.

Welcome to the RX boards, you're going to find it a great car.

I believe the info/phone choice from the main menu is for working with an already paired phone, if you don't have any phones paired maybe it does not show up. If you are trying to pair a new phone, you need to go into the Settings main menu option, and click "Manage Phone". It is here you can turn hands free function on/off and pair new phones for hands free usage.

I have been through everything in the system, at least I think/find, and I cannot find anything listing manage phone. I googled the problem before posting here, of course, and found that there is subcategory listing phone, however , at my start menu there are five main icons. One is listed as info./phone. I can open it, but only 4 selections come up (fuel consumption, map data, calendar, xm navweather). I have tried reseting car by unplugging battery and reseting all user functions to default. I am also experiencing a difficulty with home link; I had no problems programing my GX but this one is taking some serious effort.
I have owners manual and not much in there relating to current problem, weird. This should be really easy.

In the 5 main icons, you want the "Setup" icon, not the "Info\Phone" icon. There should be a phone subcategory in there.

OP, another source of potential info to help you with pairing procedures is http://www.lexus.com/bluetooth/ I'm not sure if it will help with your particular droid, but it's helped others with steps to perform between various phones and their truck.

I have an iPhone 4S. Thanks for the help, I guess I'm going to have to carry to dealer bc there's no subcategory for phone under setup either. It's like someone deleted it. If I press the voice button on steering wheel I just get the double beep like the error sound. Did I some how buy the one car without phone integration lol.

The voice button on the steering wheel is for voice commands. The prompt can be disabled in the menu, hence why it looks like it is not doing anything. Try pushing the voice prompt button and giving it a command: Go Home.

No luck with voice command either. Scrolled through all the settings to see if I could turn it on and nothing there. Anyone know how to do a system reset? I want it like it was new.

Hit the off hook button on the steering wheel. It will pull up the phone screen. It should say "no phone connected, would you like to connect one".

Nothing happens when button pressed. I checked the fuse in the engine bay, but I couldn't locate the one in the cab.

Sounds like you have a hardware failure. In my experience, generically, when a "computer" boots it polls for attached hardware and then builds it's interface according to what hardware responds. If any piece of hardware, say a phone BT card, fails to respond, the computer builds it's interface without that module. The symptoms would be everything works perfectly, except for the parts that seem missing.

Now, I'm not sure if Lexus stores any configuration data onto the hard drive along with the nav maps, or uses flash memory separately, but if either of those were experiencing a failure I think the symptoms would affect more sub-systems. And if it happened to be simply lost system configuration data, I highly doubt there is any allowance for an owner to access or reset that data without the use of the specialized software the dealers use.

All signs point to a trip to the dealer I think...

Is it possible that your RX does not have BT installed? Did it come standard on '10 RX350?
I'd think on NAv equipped RX it should have been installed...
Which fuse did you check? #27 under the hood is listed as "mayday/tel" -it was the only one tahat says "tel".

Going to schedule trip to dealer next week hopefully. I can't remember which fuse I checked. I tried most and any that lead to the belief that it would be phone or nav etc. Part of the Bluetooth is working bc I have both phones connected to play audio which they do work. I also signed up for the SOS and it doesn't work either.

Interesting, there's no SOS light or you pushed the button and no one answered???

Good luck at the dealers, hope they get everything fixed. This should be a good test for the technology specialist.
