Default Carbon Pollen filter-is it effective?

I have bad alleries to pollen, I'd like to know if anyone had replaced their stock pollen filter w carbon one and if there was any difference in the inside air quality...
Looking for feedback from another RX owner who has similar ptoblem.

My RX has about 10K miles only, the roads are not too dusty here, and original pollen filter is not dirty.

Thanx

I have bad allergies this time of year as well. I don't believe changing the filter from OEM to anything else will really make a difference. I just make it a habit to change the OEM filter more frequently than is required . I haven't had any issues with interior air quality or pollen in our RX-350,IS-250 or Camry.

Carbon filters have the extra benefit of absorbing smells. When I had one in the RXh and passed by a dead skunk on the road, the smell stayed out of the cabin. Wix filters come with BioShield 75 and are supposed to prevent bacteria and capture allergens, dirt and other pollutants. I replaced the OEM filter with a Wix non-carbon filter yesterday. The cost was $11 (#24483) from Amazon. For that price you can replace it often like GoGiantsNJ suggested. And keep your vents on recirculate.

oem and Purolator are already carbon lined. change my RX cabin filter once a year at spring time as it collects all kinds of debris during 12 months period.

Sewell shows a regular pollen filter for $20, or carbon one ("deodorant") for $51.

Any one knows which one comes in the RX from the factory?

Those Sewell prices are before discount. When you set up an account with them, the price drops to $14.87 for the regular filter and $37.71 for the carbon filter. Plus shipping of course. It tends to be on the high side so order more than one item. I haven't purchased the OEM carbon filter because there are plenty of other brands for much less. My RXh came with the regular filter.

Thanks-I realize now that OEM filter has to be of decent quality because I do not sneeze when driving my RX, and I felt bad when drove wife's Q5 last week -I think that filter needs to be changed...

PS

I think I got "change something" bug
