Greetings folks,
My wife and I are looking for our first Lexus RX 350 which will replace our Honda CR-V. We thought we would buy used perhaps a 2011 or 2012 with Navigation, Backup Camera, CPO, etc.
Any thoughts from those of you who are experienced RX owners as to which year might be better than the other when making a purchasing decision. I've scoured the Internet, read through the Edmund's reviews, looked at other posts in this forum and it doesn't seem to be any big differences between the two years. If I understand what I've read here 2014 will bring a 4th generation of RX but we really don't need the absolute latest and greatest when a perfectly good '11-'12 would work for us.
Any thoughts you folks may have would be greatly appreciated. And if any of you are in the market for a good used DC-9 I'll be glad to give you the benefit of my expertise in that area. For free.
Best

The 2010~2012 RX350s are pretty much the same car. The 2013 is the one which have the face lift that features the splinter grill and new lamps.
I can also assure you that there will not be a new RX for 2014. There won't one until at least 2016.

The reason that we chose the 2012 vs the 2011 model was that the 2012 model is officially rated for regular (87 octane) gasoline. The future cost savings on gas made it worthwhile to spend a little more for the newer model.
I know that there have been quite a few people who have been running the 2011 or 2010 with regular, and the engine seems to compensate for it, but for warranty and piece of mind, I think it is better to go with what the manufacturer recommends.
Based on the official brochures, you lose 5 HP with the tuning on the 2012 model (270 HP in 2012 vs 275 HP in 2011).

We bought a CPO 2010 450h about three months ago and LOVE it. I alternate between Regular, plus and Super gas and the car runs consistently an them all at consistent mileage.
