The valets at my Lexus dealership change it for me. The last time the valet forceably pulled down the rear wiper...I was not happy with that.

Sit into your car, push twice car start/stop button do not depress brakes(this way you will not start up your car), turn on your rear wiper blades in intermittent mode, as soon as your wiper in vertical position press car start/stop button one more time, wiper will freeze at the same location, the you can easily remove it.

Do not start your car while blade is not in place, otherwise you might scratch the window.

Enjoy!

Is it easy to remove and replace? Where do I start after I got it in the veritcal position?

Welcome to CL, cappie808. The rear wiper takes a little more effort than the others to replace. It's not overly difficult though. Once the rear wiper is vertical, lift the wiper off the glass and pull the rubber insert down to remove. Angle it slightly away from the wiper arm. I place a towel underneath to avoid scratching the glass. Take the metal guides from the old insert and switch to the new one. Then thread through the wiper. Note, the metal guides may be bowed. It's easier to put the insert in following the same curve as the glass.

I just picked up new refills from my local Toyota dealer yesterday, $24 for all three.

Sorry, I stay in Cambodia, and I ordered the inserts from Sewell, with all the transhipments to here, it is not even $71 !

I was able to replace the fronts by myself and the rear I left it to Toyota service center and they helped me for free when i service my car there.

$71 is really ridiculous price to pay !

Did they charge you for the install?

While I can see the wiper blade being a bit more expensive than just purchasing the inserts, it does not add up to $71. Perhaps $15 for the driver side blade, even for a premium one, decreasing in price from there for the passenger side and rear.

If you want new wiper blades each time you would be best going to an AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts shop as they will install such a purchase for free. Even going to a Toyota dealership and having them install new inserts for you would be much cheaper.

Smile RX350 Rear Wiper DIY or not?

Hi folks -
I don't think the other threads in here that talk about the RX350 hidden rear wiper ever got resolved (mostly the subject gets changed to refills).

Is the wiper blade itself a DIY thing? (I've already ordered and received an actual blade in the mail and it'd be just as expensive to return it -- so even if the "correct" answer is just change out the rubber refill -- I'm still interested in whether the actual blade is a user-changeable thing.)

I did it. New 2012 RX350 owner here. Found mention of the "trick" in another forum thread (sorry, didn't save link). Key is to get rear wiper stopped when half way through sweep. Sequence was something like turn on car electrical without starting engine, activate rear wiper and then turn off car when wiper is up and down. Gotta be quick on the button . Gives enough access to slide refill out/in.

It's described much more accurately in the other thread. I'm sure you can find it if you search.

It is something Anita has talked about previous. Took me all of ten seconds to find at least one mention.

Thanks! But this is what I was talking about when I mentioned I've tried this and it gives room for the refill but NOT the entire wiper blade. Something like
this this
.
