Buying used 2010 RX 350 - Doubts, please help!
I'm considering to buy a used 2010 Lexus RX350 @ 34K miles from a private party. I liked the car but have a couple of minor concerns. Hopefully I can get some advise from the owners / experts here:
- The current owner bought it last year from dealer as certified used and is now selling because he is moving out of country. The owner told me the dealer had put in new tires at then mileage of 28,000 to label it certified used. I looked up the requirement for certification and the criteria is a minimum tread of 5/36, which is pretty much worn out. Is it normal for the tires to wear out @ 28K miles. If not would you be overly concerned about it? Does it indicate the original owner (who had it on a lease) either towed a lot or drove it rough?
- Per Carfax, dealer service records quote "Interior trim repaired" twice - first @5K miles and again @28K miles. Should I be concerned?
expert suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you!

Welcome to CL, rash13. Tire wear varies by brand. The '10 RX came with Michelins, Bridgestones or Dunlops. I listed them in order from best to worst. I'd say if it has Michelins or Bridgestones, you should be fine for probably another 30K miles. Personally I haven't gone beyond 18K on any original tires, Unfortunately I always wound up with the worst brand on my RXs. As far as the interior trim repair, I don't know what that means coming from Carfax. If you have the VIN, you can sign up on Lexus.com to see the service history and check for yourself. It won't give all the minute details but at least you can verify it. And maybe the current owner knows what they did. Still, I'd classify that as minor and wouldn't worry too much about it.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I would check the history of the RX and not worry too much about the tires ( it could be the tire or the driving sytle). If your happy with the history of the vehicle id just put on some new tires when you need them. Check out the air filter and fluids. Then test drive it.
