Hi All,
Was planning on replacing my brake pads front and rear on my 2012 RX350. Currently have 40,000 miles. No problems,, just preventative before the winter in New England
What is the expected life on the rotors, and replacement interval? Do most folks use the dealer OEM or 3rd party aftermarket.
Doing the job myself. Dealer is much too expensive for me,
Thanks,

there are too many variables to calculate expected life of the rotors. Depends on brake pad material and style of driving. Get a pair of vernier calipers to measure the rotors. During inspection, you can grind the tall edge with an angle grinder if necessary.
There is a minimum thickness spec for the front and rear rotors. Call your local lexus service dept or google for the specifics.
Centric is an excellent OEM spec brand, and look for ceramic pads for OEM like wear and low brake dust.
FWIW, our 2002 RX300 replaced its original front rotors and pads at 90k. The rear rotors were still good but pads just replaced at 140k.

Look at this sticky:

Since you're still under warranty you may want to stick with oem parts, which you can order from Sewell much cheaper than most local dealers. Out of warranty, I use centric posiquiet. Just my $0.02.

I stick with OEM parts. I made a mistake of buying Brembo Blanks for the rears on my IS and they did not clear the dust shield. $35 lost in shipping costs replacements. I Always used OEM pads. They last a very long time, don't squeal and produce minimal amount of dust. discountoyotaparts.com has decent prices. It's cheaper just to buy parts there than on e-bay. I bought a ton of stuff from them when I caught-up on maintenance on my IS.
Also, be sure to grease the sliding pin on the front calipers. They are common to seize-up with age on Toyotas. I replaced both of my front calipers on the IS because of it.
