Default Help: Potential RX350 Buyer

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I am helping my father-in-law with a purchase. He is interested in the RX350 and wants some pricing advice.

He is looking at the AWD RX350 with Navigation (interior/exterior color do not matter much to him). I believe the 2015s are about to go on sale.

Using the "build your lexus" feature on the Lexus website it appears to get the RX with Nav is a $8,205 package that includes many other goodies. This brings the total sticker price to $50,275.

1) Is it possible to get Navigation in the AWD RX without adding the entire package?

2) Could anyone help me with what they paid for a comparably specced RX350? I live in the Chicagoland area.

The Central area is going to only build RX's in a few variations. F Sport w Nav for about $52k , AWD with Nav for about $50,000. AWD non-Nav for about $47,000 and FWD non-Nav for around $45k. The build your own Lexus is a poor representation of what will be available in your area. Any RX you see with Nav in your area is going to have all those other goodies you mentioned. Anything other than the above builds will be a special order only,(expect 3-6 months wait) or they will have to try and find what you want from another dealer willing to trade with them (expect to fork out between $500-1,250 for transportation and that is if the configuration you are looking for exists)

Yeah, I figured a "special" order would be more hassel than he wanted.

So if the sticker price is about $50k, what would be a "good" price to negotiate to. What have others paid?

I've seen folks get 4-5K off, but that's rare if you have the fortitude and patience to haggle. Timing and who you deal with also plays a factor. If your father-in-law is not one who is much to haggle, 47K all-in + tax is a low-stress fair deal for both parties IMO.

Simple - If you're concerned about price, just pick up a MY2014 vehicle. 99% of the vehicle will be the same at somewhere around 90% of the price. All else being equal, only a fool would shop based on model year.

Make sure it has HIDs. Many got realized after the fact that all they got were halogens.
To each their own, but when it comes to Nav, you get very little functionality for a very large sum of money. And loose an AC button. 2015s get a standard 7" display for vehicles w/o Nav.
