OMG I just noticed that the gas pedal and its lever are made of plastic (2010 RX350 Ultra Premium). Is it "standard"? Never seen such thing before before on any other car I had. Even on my kid's bicycle it is metal.

...very few cars have pedals that are not rubber. Most are, unless you get some sort of sport package or sports car which then come with aluminum. Even then, they need to put plastic on top of them to prevent slip. Rubber is great because of its non slip application

So yes, the pedal is plastic with rubber coated layer on top like RXSF stated while the top rubber layer is replaced by aluminum + round rubber inserts in the F-Sport (shown).
However, the lever or rod is not plastic but metal while the housing is tough ABS plastic like your home plumbing - very tough. Same metal rod for the brake pedal. No issues or concerns here on strength.

For what it is or isn't worth, my '13 RX350 has a plastic one.

Wow, interesting discovery Maertens and JDR76! Plastic lever on the 2010 and '13. It looks solid though and it will never rust! ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Now I'm curious. Perhaps the metal rod is for the F-Sport pedal only...
Anyone else can confirm a non-F-Sport (plastic) and and F-Sport RX (metal)?
Or perhaps where the RX is built may have something to do with it? Mine is in Canada...

CorradoMR2, perhaps it is an F Sport thing? Mine was assembled in Japan, if it makes a difference.

^^^ Thanks for the replies.
Metal lever = F-Sport; Plastic lever = non-F-Sport.
I know, this is a moot point, but still an interesting find IMO and glad Maertens noticed this - You learn something everyday!
