Missing Car Charger
Vartig,
In the past, I've secreted things away, then forgotten. Is it possible that you placed the phone charger cable into the black hole of doom within the console, or some other easy-to-forget place?
If by chance you find your cable where you last left it, which has happened to me, please let us and the dealer know.
Thanks.
Ray A.

I'm a little confused on different versions here. But for me - every time I detail my car, my detailers vaccum sucks gum, pennies and other junk right out.
IF you really feel that they took your gum and cable - go to the service manager and demand a replacement for both products. But don't mention that you are not sure if they were in your car or not. that will defeat the purpose.
When you take your car to the dealer, you do have a valet key, you can lock all things matter to you like gum and lock it in the dash. Although in your case I would still go to the dealer, but next time mention to the service advisor - it bothers you when things are moved or your gum is eaten by anyone at service. keep hands to yourselves.

+ 1 on the vacuum theory.
I know personally how powerful those vacuums are,
there are times when im at a gas station with 2 dollars/ vacuum stall and those things can suck a bunch of house keys straight up.
I have lost a lot of USB and quarters too.
And also consider the people doing the car wash themselves
They're not your sales people, the mechanics nor the service advisors,
They're probably earning less than minimum wage.
So i don't expect them to be as detailed as you want them to be.

Take some personal responsibility and realize that it might have been a mistake on your part of where YOU left your cable. And not asking for reimbursement for something that you may not deserve.
Just because you 'really feel' something doesn't entitle you to anything.
Again, this is a silly situation that has not and still does not warrant what has happened in this thread or suggestions on what to do next.
- TWO calls to service manager with no answer to complain about:
a) gum - that may have been sucked up accidently if they vacuumed the inside of the car - but OP says they didn't touch the inside so yes, there are 2 out of 3 pieces of chewing gum missing.
b) a two hour wait at a car dealership when OP has stated he didn't have anything to do anyway and ENJOYED his time at the dealership and took 2 test drives
c) a phone charger cable that may OR MAY NOT have been lost at the dealership.
- creation of this thread
- two MORE phone calls leaving a message
- a visit to the dealer because the message wasn't returned to find out from his asst that the call wasn't returned because he was OFF
- Call return from service manager advising that scenario does not make sense as there would be no reason for someone to take a phone charger, WITH A VALID EXPLANATION. But yet he know has to follow through and review video, doubt his employees and spend more time making a call to OP to explain that there is no evidence of someone taking his phone charger cable
- suggestion from us to
a) call corporate
b) write letters
c) provide dealer name and address so they can be avoided
d) demand replacements from service manager and lie which is in essence calling one of his employees a thief. And a most idiotic one at that.
You have a valet key. If you want an item to be in your vehicle when giving it to ANY third party, lock it away.

hehe,
1) went in for a service and my car ended up in a used car lot. Thats a complain.
2) they forgot to add engine oil following service
3) Joy ride to mcdonalds "road test" while I'm eating a big mac and looking at my car going through a drive thru
There has been fun moments...I can say its a little funny writing to lexus corporate based on missing gum.

Really? We now tolerate theft because it happens a lot, or if whatever is stolen doesn’t meet the “expensive enough to care” threshold? Is it vartig's fault that someone stole his belongings because he didn't hide them well enough, or is it the thief's fault?
The dealership has the right to know that one of their employees is a thief, regardless of the value of the property, so they can do something to correct the issue. This is assuming of course, that vartig is 100% sure something was stolen. Make sure they didn't just move it to get it out of the way, and that it was in the car to begin with!!! Wrongly accusing someone of theft is just as bad as the theft itself. In my humble opinion.

No, I don't play soccer!
Dreamlab, I don't think we needed to know about the motor homes.
vartig, have you thoroughly searched your RX? The gum could have fallen between the seats, was sucked up by a vacuum, or thrown out by the person cleaning your vehicle as others have suggested. And it sounds like you cannot definitively say where the charger cable was last seen. I am not discounting the possibility someone may have removed it from your RX. But you need to know beyond doubt it was inside your vehicle before you brought it in for service and then not there when you got it back. We will be interested to hear what the service manager has to say after reviewing the surveillance cameras.

Only because you asked for my opinion .......
You may have typed your request in small type but you still asked, so .....
NEVER EVER take your car anywhere for something you can do yourself. Actually there's a lot of self satisfaction in doing something yourself. That said, there's always a day when you can't and need to take it in. Most dealers are very honest and reliable and probably the dealer you took yours to is as well. That doesn't mean every single employee is a Saint! It doesn't have to be valuable like jewelery, a watch, a camera, etc. It can be something inconsequential like a pack of gum or charging cord. Most thefts are crimes of opportunity. Remove the opportunity before dropping it off and go happily on about your day. And most people wouldn't start a thread about such small things. Now if it was something of real value taken then yes you have a genuine complaint to register. Also you should chide yourself for offering up the 'Crime of Opportunity'.

Hey guys,
If you remember my previous post I supposed to go to a dealer close to me in order to check my tires (filled with Nitrogen) & in mater of fact they said they are going to wash my car too.
Well this is my feedback :
I was there for 2 hours although I had an appointment just to check my tires pressure & wash the car.
But when I got the car back I got they took my chewing gum from car without my permission. It was ok but now I got I lost my phone charger cable!
I was happy for the free car wash & now Im too upset.
I called the manager of service twice but he doesnt answer!
what should I do in your opinion?
