Door edge guard is applied to the trailing edge (near door handle). This damage is on the leading edge (near the hinges). Door edge guard won't help this damaged area. Try buffing, if that doesn't work try touch up, if still not satisfied take it to a body shop.

 

I too would suggest trying to buff/wax it very carefully first - if not, bring it to the body shop!
